NYnLON is a sophisticated but super relaxed restaurant in the heart of Blackfriars. On arrival you really do feel that you have stepped into one of the best of New York’s mid-town Manhattan’s famous dining experiences but in London. The menu is full of varied bistro, pizza and chop house classics using local, seasonal produce to accommodate all tastes including a kid’s menu. I did notice that the menu also had a great range of dishes for vegetarians and vegans created as thoughtfully as their steaks, fish and meat dishes.

In the menu there is a lovely fictional story about Amelia; the inspiration behind the restaurant’s concept. It tells how friendship, travel and tastes for New York and London shaped the menu there is also a namesake dessert named “Pear Amelia”.

From walking in to leaving the service was absolutely superb. The staff were professional but really welcoming. We encountered service from three members of staff all of whom were very knowledgeable about the menu.

We weren’t sure on which wine to have so our waiter asked the types of wines we would generally go for and then brought three different wines to the table for us to sample before deciding on our preferred one. This is something that I’ve never had before and a really lovely touch.

For starters I had the courgettes which were beautifully prepared and looked like a piece of artwork on the plate. My husband had the Polenta chips with truffle and parmesan shavings, both of which were amazing and possibly the best starters we have ever had.

For main we both had the New York strip steaks again beautifully prepared and whilst we both had them cooked differently they both melted in the mouth. For sides we both had the chips, again these were perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. You are given a mini tray of three differently spiced rock salt pots which was something I’ve not experienced before. The sauces were lovely with a choice of chimichurri, peppercorn, bone marrow, red wine jus and mojo sauces. The bone marrow sauce was divine.

For our desserts, my husband had the summer frost which was lovely but nothing could have topped my baked cheesecake with blueberry coulis. This really was the piece de resistance. Firstly it was huge but I could not leave any of it as it was truly the very best cheesecake I have ever tasted. I would travel to London just to have another one.

Last but not least we were encouraged to sample their espresso martini of which we both adored.

Rating: 5/5
