Tinc is a family founded UK company that was established in 2011. Tinc designs and makes fun but practical stationery and gift for children of all ages.

Tinc is a company I became familIar with just over a year ago when I was looking for fun themed stationery for my children in the supermarket.

Tinc designs are a big hit in my house, and they always asked to look at the Tinc stationary when we see it.

I was delighted when I was gifted the Tiny Tincs Under the Sea Washable Colouring Mat to review. I have two young children that love colouring and drawing. This is also something we are enjoying doing together at home.

The outer packaging is very appealing, with a brightly coloured sea scene on the box and clearly labelled.

The Tiny Tincs Under the Sea Washable Colouring Mat came with 12 coloured felt pens.

The mats is approximately 50x50cm. The mat is made from a material that feels like plastic. Almost identical to the material hospital privacy curtains are made from. The material is very strong and robust.

The mat has a blue edging sowen around it to keep the mat intact and looking good.

The mat was very easy to colour on with the felt tips, but we found that due to the fine nib on the felt tips that it took a long time to colour. Thicker nib felt pens would be better, especially for younger children.

At first, the ink looked wet on the mat as if the material was repelling the ink and started to dry after a few minutes.

I did find it a bit annoying that the hand and arm of my child was covered in felt pen ink as the ink was drying slower then her speed to colour as she moved across the mat. Not as mess free as I had hoped for.

Once the mat was coloured in and we had admired the colouring it was time to clean the mat. I washed out the mat by running warm water over it to wash the colours away. The colour removed quickly and easily with no staining from darker colours.

I hung the mat to dry, which it did quickly and was ready to use again.

Overall, I rate the Tiny Tincs Under the Sea Washable Colouring Mat 3.5/5.

I love the colouring mat concept as it was great fun to do, and we enjoyed it as a family time activity.

The illustrations are fun and engaging; the large size means more than one person can colour on it simultaneously, and the mat is reusable.

It would be great if additional pictures can also be produced.

The reason I haven’t scored it higher is that I think it is overpriced at £12. The felt tip pens are not the quality that I expected. My daughter managed to push a couple of the nibs back inside the actual pens when she wasn’t pressing down that hard, and the felt tip ink transfer on to my child’s arm, and hand was annoying.

I would purchase different scenes in the future if these two points were improved.
