Being somewhat of a self-proclaimed ‘slipper connoisseur’ (I practically live in mine at home), I was absolutely delighted to be asked to review some Snuggle Slippers from Start-Rite for my daughter. The process to choose and order the slippers was so straightforward, it was a breeze.
I was asked to make a selection from the Start-Rite website, having been provided with the link and was presented with lots of choice of designs and colours for these lovely slippers. There really was something to suit every child’s taste;
Blue suede football
Pink suede bunny
Tan suede dog
Grey suede cat
Green suede Dino
Harvest gold suede bee
Lilac suede unicorn
For my daughter, I chose the pink suede bunny design, but it was a tough decision, with so many possible to choose from. The sizing on the website for this range of slippers was in European shoe sizes, which I’m not so used to. However, there is plenty of information and tools on the website to assist with choosing the correct size. It was good to note that all Start-Rite shoes have growing room built in, so that has already been taken into account with the shoe size. The smallest size available for the Snuggle Slippers is E24, (UK size 7 (infants)) and goes up to E36 (UK size 3.5), with one width fitting.
The slippers arrived really quickly, within a couple of days of ordering them, which I was really impressed with. They arrived in a small shoe box, wrapped in tissue and the slippers themselves were padded out with tissue to prevent them becoming squashed. My first impression was that they were a thing of beauty and I was disappointed they were too small for me!
The upper part of the slippers are made from soft leather (suede), with ultra flexible lightweight soles to assist with easy movement and are suitable for all floor surfaces e.g. tiles or carpet and will be hard-wearing. With immaculate stitching, faux fur lining to keep your little one’s feet nice and snuggly (hence the name) with a beautiful bunny face design on the front of them, they scream quality.
Up until now, I’ve always purchased slippers with a Velcro fastening, so they can be tightened to fit my daughter’s feet, so I wasn’t sure how she would fare with slip on ones. I didn’t need to worry as she couldn’t wait to get them on her feet (she does have a bit of a penchant for shoes!) The faux-fur lining provided a bit of cushioning to assist with keeping them on and they fit her feet like a glove, without the need for extra fastening.
The Snuggle Slippers have an RRP of £26 which is quite a steep price point, not for the quality, but based on how quickly children’s feet grow and how quickly they grow out of shoes. However, they are currently on sale on the Start-Rite website for £13, which I think represents brilliant value for money given the quality and workmanship which has gone into producing them. I would quite happily pay this for a pair of these slippers and would definitely recommend them to my friends with little ones too. You can also receive 15% off of your first order, when you sign up to the Start-Rite mailing list. Delivery is priced at £3.99 for standard 2-4 day delivery. Plus they offer free UK returns, with a full refund for returning unwanted items within 90 days, which is an excellent service.
I think these slippers would make an ideal gift for Christmas. I mean, who doesn’t love some new slippers for Christmas? They’re perfect for the current chilly weather and would make any child feel all snuggly and cosy.
I hadn’t purchased any shoes from Start-Rite before, so I was keen to learn a little bit more about the company. They’ve been making shoes since 1792 and make shoes for children from babies to school age children, including shoes for pre-walkers, first walking shoes, school shoes, sandals and welly boots.
Start-Rite have partnered with The Daily Mile Foundation, which is an organisation set up to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and well-being of every person, regardless of age. They want every child to have the ability to do The Daily Mile (to jog, run or walk for 15 minutes a day) in their school or nursery. Such a worthwhile cause to improve children’s health and happiness through a simple, yet effective method.
I can’t recommend the Snuggle slippers highly enough and would encourage everyone to take a look at the Start-Rite website.
