Sleeping Beauty on Ice at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking staring the Imperial Ice Stars, the cream of ice skaters from Russia, were a treat to watch as they performed incredible lifts breath-taking flips and aerial gymnastics.
The cast truly are the most talented skaters with plenty of medals between them. The backdrops and scenery are totally amazing and the costumes beautiful. Sleeping Beauty appeals to all ages from 4 to 104 so much so we were all glued to the stage. The dancing on ice was set to classical music from Tchaikovsky and looked effortless.
I took my twin girls age 6 and they loved it one said she would have liked a narrator the other said it was good to use her imagination. The scenes were very well explained through the dance and drama from the birth of Princess Aurora to when the spells are cast and the whole palace falls to sleep. After the interval where we had a drink in the luxurious piano bar we returned to our seats with ice cream where we watched the amazing ice stars break the spell and a royal wedding.
The children and I both enjoyed this show directed by Tony Mercer and using 14 tonnes of ice.
A lovely evening a great show and in a beautiful theatre.
