Sing With Mizzie Nursery Rhymes Book Review

Sing with Mizzie Nursery Rhymes is a sound book available as part of the Mizzie The Kangaroo series. Mizzie The Kangaroo guides the reader and their little one through a wide repertoire of favourite children’s nursery rhymes. Included are classics such as Baa Baa Black Sheep and Mary Had A Little Lamb. Each is well-illustrated using a cartoon style that introduces new characters such as Bella-Boo and Baby Hugo. The book fits with the Australian theme and depicts Mizzie and friends across a range of landscapes such as mountains, rivers and farmland. The book itself is targeted at little ones aged 12 months and over and the illustrations are well matched to this younger age range.

Activating the sounds of Sing with Mizzie Nursery Rhymes is easy and your little one can press the button, listen and sing. This not only makes the book interactive but gives your little one control and enables them to easily select their favourites. The sounds themselves have been recorded by Australian children’s school choirs and each rhyme is 15 seconds long. I think this is a nice concept, especially given it helps support children in their musical development, through donations from part of the sales back to the music department of the schools involved.

An unfortunate criticism however must be the sound quality itself which sounds slightly ‘tinny’ and with an echo-like quality. This however is common of sound books of this type and despite this I still think Sing with Mizzie Nursery Rhymes is entertaining addition to any sound book collection. The book encourages children to sing along and helps them in their development by exposing them to various sounds and enabling them to read along with each rhyme.
Sing with Mizzie Nursery Rhymes RRPs at £12.00 and includes six different nursery rhymes to listen to and sing along with. The book itself is made from card and is durable enough to be left with your little one without fear of damage to the thick hardback pages. The book comes with an integrated battery which is supplied and safely secured away with screw-cover. Whilst the sounds will turn themselves off after 15 seconds the book can be deactivated to save the battery life and the sounds from tired adult ears.

As a character Mizzie the Kangaroo has been specially developed to help guide your little one’s development by exposing them to fun yet educational opportunities. Sing with Mizzie Nursery Rhymes is the only sound book in the series however complements the Mizzie Music Box well and is available as musical gift set. Other books in the series however support your little one is explore through interactive touch and feel and tell the story of Mizzie at the Beach and Mizzie Be Active. If your little one falls in love with Mizzie, as ours did, they can also meet Mizzie in various other forms due to the extensive selection of toys, games and gift sets available.

Overall I would give Sing with Mizzie Nursery Rhymes a solid 4/5 as it helps combine the classics of well-known nursery rhymes with the new and exciting world of Mizzie the Kangaroo which our little one has fallen in love with.
