Rubik’s Cube Light Review

Reviewed by Clare Robbin

I was sent the Rubik’s Cube Light from Firebox to review which I tried out with my 13 and 16 year old children. The cube light arrived well packaged and also came with a 1.2 metre USB charging cable, triangular stand and instructions.

The Rubik’s Cube Light is a working Rubik’s Cube that lights up with LED lighting also, it is a lot larger than the original Rubik’s Cube, and is made of clear plastic. It arrived fully charged so as soon as we turned it on it lit up immediately with bright retro eye catching colours, my son soon started twisting and turning the cube, however he did struggle to do this due to the large size of the cube, it was a struggle to get his hands to fit around the cube.

The children are both fans of the original Rubik’s Cube having completed the original puzzle a number of times. For those who are not aware of the Rubik’s Cube puzzle, the aim is to twist and turn the cube to return it to the original state with every side of the cube having one solid colour. It has provided hours of fun and we all soon became very addicted to trying to solve the puzzle. When we are not playing with the cube we have put it on the stand and used as a bedside lamp in my sons room, his friend thinks it’s awesome!

Once charged it will stay illuminated for 2 hours, recharging is simple with the USB cable (via mains) included, no changing of batteries (which is a bonus).

Overall, we think this is a great novelty gift for someone, its eye catching functional and fun. I would recommend for adults and older children due to the large size of the cube, smaller hands would struggle to twist and turn the cube.

Measures approximately 12cm(W) x 12cm(H) x 12cm(D).
