If your plan is to start the Easter holidays off with a bang, then you don’t need to go very far, as St. Helens Theatre Royal got the memo and understood the mission!

This Easter, St. Helens Theatre Royal are putting on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in a high energy, turbo-charged and explosive performance for all the family. Break up the long Easter holidays and get the kids out of the house and off the devices to experience some real-life, fun entertainment and comedy that will have you energised and keep you going for the rest of the Easter break.

We all know the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and St. Helens Theatre Royal have it all boxed off with a beautiful princess (played by Chantelle Morgan), a handsome prince (played by Luke Beatens), an evil stepmother (played by Shania Pain), a magic mirror (played by the virtual Tim Lucas), a resident dame (played by Richard Aucott) and of course the glue that holds it all together; the hilarious Muddles (played by local favourite Lewis Devine). The story follows Snow White who falls in love with the handsome prince much to the disgust of the evil stepmother, who seeks her revenge with the guidance of the magic mirror. Along the way Snow White meets the seven dwarves (portrayed brilliantly) and almost succumbs to the revenge plan of the evil stepmother.

When I say this performance is high energy, you will need to strap-in for the non-stop laughs and stitches from the constant jokes. There was something for everyone, young and old, and multi-layered jokes that had our two 11 year olds giggling throughout. Muddles kept the audience in stitches, that man must run on Duracell batteries! There were lots of opportunities for audience interaction and the good old-fashioned yelling at the characters which was skilfully weaved into the show from the beginning. The music and dancing was fantastic and lookout for the very special four-legged performance courtesy of Jema Leopold of Doggy Delights that had the audience ooh-ing and arh-ing, it definitely had the cute factor!

St. Helens Theatre Royal is a great place to go with the family, it’s welcoming and friendly with really helpful staff. The theatre is really easy to find in the centre of town with good transport links and parking nearby. The show runs until 12th April, with shows most days and matinees on Friday and Saturdays. Tickets cost £29 for adults and there are concessions available including for children. There really isn’t a bad seat in the house!
