There aren’t many beauty products that I find more of a treat than a face mask so the Odylique 3-in-1 Maca mask was gratefully recieved.  The Maca mask promises to cleanse, exfoliate and replenish and with 60 minerals, vitamins and amino acids, and 100% natural organic ingredients I was keen to get trying.

The 48g tub comes packaged in a box, Odylique’s colour scheme and logo look luxurious and add to the products initial appeal. The ingredients are ethically sourced and the box proudly displays the fairtrade logo as well as being cruelty free.

On opening the tub I was surprised to find a grey powder, a further look at the directions explained the mask powder was to be mixed at home with water or a number of other liquid options to form a paste before application, this I found disappointing, it can be hard enough maintain any kind of beauty regime without adding in extra steps and inevitably some additional mess.

I followed the directions- simply a heaped teaspoon of mask to a small amount of water to make a paste and then applied to my already cleansed face. The mask was gritty in texture, but not unpleasant, it felt slightly exfoliating (that must be the oats), I could smell the mint essential oil in the products and my skin was left with a pleasant tingling feeling as the mask began to set. After leaving on for the recommended 15-20 minutes the mask had gone satisfyingly hard and began to crack, I washed off in the shower using my hands in circular motions to exfoliate further.  Afterward there was no denying my skin felt lovely-clean and soft, and notably less oily through the day.

The mask is suitable for all skin types and can be adapted to suit, for combination/oily 1-2 times a week is recommended, normal/dry 2-4 times a month and dry/mature once a month so depending on what your skin type is and usage will depend how long it lasts.

Other suggestions to mix the mask with are tonic, coconut water or yoghurt depending on skin type I like all of these ideas and am keen to try them all, the tub contains 10-15 masks when made up, depending on whether you used for a full face or a mini mask mixing half a teaspoon with a tiny amount of water and applying to the t-zone.

The mask retails for £20 which I think is more than reasonable given the amount of face masks it provides and the quality of the ingredients, the only flaw i can find is having to make it up at home but I recognise this leaves room to adapt and mix to suit your own skin type and treatment.

I would definitely be keen to try more Odylique products in the future they have a lovely looking range, I love that they are an ethically strong brand and if all their products are the same quality of the mask I’m sure they will not disappoint.
