Father’s Day can be a tricky time of year, as some men are notoriously hard to buy for. If you are fed up of gimmicky socks, beer or chocolates and are looking for something more useful, how about a pair of Award Winning hiking boots. The man in your life doesn’t need to be walking the Pennines Way for them to love the lightweight Armadillo FieldLite boot from NortiV8, just someone who needs a boot to keep comfortable in all terrain.

I was lucky enough to be sent a pair to put through their paces and was immediately surprised to see how light they were, weighing just 16.58oz per boot, especially considering their utilitarian look. The boots come in 4 different colours Army green, dark grey, black & grey black. I was sent the grey/black which is a predominately grey boot with black heels, soles and ankle support. The grey/black colouring is very subtle and the NortiV8 branding discreet, great if you want the boots to blend in with whatever you are wearing or you are not a fan of standing out from the crowd. They are however, stylish, with their mix of textured self coloured materials and chunky sole which would make them popular with any age. The mix of materials includes robust leather toe and heel protection, which keeps toes safe from knocks and scrapes, and oxford fabric with TPU structure, which helps to keep the boots lightweight.

The manufacture promises the boots to be fully waterproof stating “Equipped with SGS-approved waterproof-pro tech, these men’s hiking boots remain dry even after simulating 15,000 steps in water” which obviously meant we had to try them out in our local stream. Whilst we didn’t manage 15,000 steps the boots certainly kept my husband’s feet dry during the trial and he found the deep tread of the rubber sole stopped him from slipping on the wet rocks. Being waterproof meant we could give them a good scrub on his return where they washed up brilliantly.

The boots are really comfortable when walking due to a combination of factors, soft cushioning inside the boots including the back of the foot and the tongue, superb ankle support where laces can be tied low or high to suit your preference and well structured insole. The insole features the Nortiv8 innovative 4-in-1 rebound technology, engineered with a Supercritical foam, a Strebel insole for sustained cushioning and a dual-density EVA midsole, with both soft and firm layers, that enhances shock absorption, combining to provide excellent energy return whilst walking and hiking.

Coming in sizes 7 to 13 the boots will fit anyone from young adult up, and at £49.99 are great value for money. My husband found these boots from the Nortiv8 range to be comfortable, supportive and actually waterproof. They had great grip thanks to the chunky rubber sole and were nice and lightweight for tired legs. Suitable for all whether you are an avid hiker, low level walker or just need a comfortable working boot, the Nortiv8 Armadillo FieldLite boots should be your preferred choice.
