We really wanted to go to the National Maritime Museum in Cornwall but had a few reservations and had a few days of debate about taking our children here (2½ and 5 years), they get restless very quickly if they don’t like what they see. We decided that it was worth going to look.

When we arrived parking was easy to find and not a hassle to get to, we went in the beautiful building and bought our entry tickets, it is a very reasonable price (Adults £11.50, Children (0-5 years) Free, Children (6-15 years) £8.00, Seniors £9.50 and a Family Ticket is £32.00 – 2 adults and up to 3 children).

We found out that the displays change regularly which is good as your ticket permits you free return entry for the year and there are activities for children to take part in which kept them entertained for ages, this was good as it meant me and my husband could take turns in reading the info whilst the other was with the children.

There are 5 floors to the museum and on the top you get a fantastic view of the harbour, as well as underwater in the basement floor through a glass wall. The cafe is on 4th floor with beautiful views. The freedom and space it affords youngsters and the opportunities to play on the boats, life raft, helicopter and RNLI Jet Ski are great.

So much to see and learn for all the family. An all year round amenity and very educational.

Rating: 5/5 thumbs_up
