I was really excited when I received the Nando’s Peri-Peri sauces, as we are all big fans of the restaurant.
The box arrived and I loved the packaging. Simple and to the point, but really appealing. It had an easy to carry handle. Inside the box, the 6 glass bottles were protected by shredding.
Each bottle was decorated with a different coloured label and lid. The directions for use were clear and concise, along with the storage instructions. I’m always worried about how to store opened sauces, so I was pleased to see each lid had instructions for storage after opening.
As I have a young child, and I cook for us all, I decided to marinade my chicken in the ‘Mild’ sauce. Once cooked the flavour was beautiful. The fewer spices definitely did not compromise the flavour, the chicken was thoroughly enjoyed by all the family.
I cooked with the ‘Lemon & Herb’ sauce also, again this was fantastic. The zest of the lemon was very tasty and overall the flavour was phenomenal, without being overly spicy.
The remaining sauces we used as dips for our chips and pitta bread.
‘Garlic’ was just that. Strong garlic taste but very tasty. A bit spicier than the ‘Lemon & Herb’, but two completely different flavours. The flavour remained and was still good through the spice.
‘Medium’ was quite spicy. I could taste the chilies in this one, which made it fresh and zingy tasting, but just a bit too spicy for me to enjoy lots of. I’m not one to like things very spicy, so I wouldn’t cook with this sauce. It was nice as a dip as I could choose how much I wanted over my food, but as a marinade or cooking sauce wouldn’t be for me.
‘Hot’ was hot indeed! For those who love spice, you would like this. The Nando’s flavour was there, but it was extremely spicy.
‘Extra Hot’ was really, really spicy. Even a little on my pitta bread left me with a spicy mouth for a good while! Again, the flavour was definitely there, but very hot!
Overall the sauces were fab. Super tasty, especially as a marinade. The flavour of the cooked chicken after using it was beautiful, so much so, my 3 year old scoffed the lot!
We will definitely be buying The Perfect Six-Pack again.
The recommendations have already been given to family and friends! The sauces are a brilliant way to get that Nando’s flavour at home. Yum!
