The On The Go Tiddlywinks Game comes in as convenient tin measuring approximately 10.5cm x 10.5cm making it the perfect game to shove in your bag for travel and storage.
I love that this item comes in a little tin rather than in a box, it will survive being carried around and has the longevity that a cardboard box just doesn’t have, not to mention there’s no worry of any annoying incidents where the box bottoms out and the contents spills everywhere. The tin features a picture of a cute bear and tiddlywinks counters.

I love its portability, although I would say Tiddlywinks is not the best game to play on the go as if you’re playing it the way we do the counters fly everywhere, needless to say we no longer have a complete set.
Inside the box are 3 targets (approximately the size of a drinks coaster), each featuring a different cut out of where to aim your counters, such as the centre of a flower, a bear’s open mouth and a robot mouth. The targets are made out of strong cardboard, the only other items in the tin are the counters, there are 4 colours allowing for up to 4 players. Each player gets 5 counters, 1 larger ‘flipper’ counter and 4 smaller.
I can’t imagine there are many that don’t know how to play Tiddlywinks, it is a childhood right of passage after all, but just in case…
Each player takes turns to flick a counter using the bigger ‘flipper’ counter into a target, the player that gets all of there counters into the target first wins the game. Two of the three targets have additional number scores around the outside so if you fall short of the hole you can add up a score this way to determine a winner.
My 8 year old had a ball playing this game so much so she started to find her own targets, an egg cup or a piece of paper she had drawn her own target on. It really kept her occupied and was fun to watch her enjoy something that I loved to play with my Dad when I was little. Alternatively my nearly 3 year old is going to take a little longer to master and gain patience with this one.
The simple design of this item and it’s storage tin are brilliant, the size of the tin makes it the perfect stocking filler, although you may want to buy some back up counter pieces for when some of the originals inevitably get lost, but that’s just the nature of the game. This would be a really fun little gift to open Christmas morning.
This item costs £10 to purchase which is a little over priced considering it’s essentially 3 pieces of card and 20 plastic counters, but you are paying for the compact tin and the sweet execution of a classic game. Overall a great stocking filler that entertains across the ages.
