Reviewed by Hayley Mclaren After being chosen to review the Melissa and Doug standard burrow bunny, I waited with much anticipation for its arrival. It arrived well packaged and my daughter (age 6) was bursting with excitement to open it up. She was not disappointed. Bunny has delightful long floppy ears appropriate for a lip eared bunny and can sit independently when correctly posed, although his first day in our house he was scarcely out of my daughters arms. He is soft to cuddle and his body has lots of snuggly give but the area at his bottom is weighted with beans/balls which gives him lots of stability when posed into a sitting position. Bunny is made of polyester fabric and the tag states is surface washable. We haven’t needed to wash bunny yet but I would suggest that a damp cloth would do the best job. Let’s take a moment to talk about this bunny’s fur. It is soft. And not soft like the average cuddly toy- this bunny is soft in a way that reminds me of fluffy towels warm from the tumble dryer, or a kittens soft and downy fur. It is a pleasure to stroke the fur and my daughter finds it comforting and soothing. She has taken to falling asleep while running her fingers through Bunny’s soft fur. Another lovely touch with bunny’s fur is the vary in texture, the white fur that is on bunny’s inner ears foot pads and belly is a fluffier texture than the grey brown fur over the rest of his body. It’s these little touches that set this toy apart. Bunny has the sweetest face, his expression is almost optimistic. I think you would be hard pressed to find a child who didn’t feel a sense of endearment to Bunny and want to make him a treasured companion. If ever there were a time to purchase a cuddly bunny it’s springtime. Bunnies and Easter go hand in hand and cuddly toys are a firm favourite when it comes to gift giving for small children. Let’s face it there is only so much chocolate that children can eat, and only so much enthusiasm they can muster when faced with half a dozen Easter eggs. This gift would also be ideal for a child who is too young for chocolate or perhaps has intolerances that make finding the perfect sweet treat a challenge. Bunny is rated as suitable from 3+ and would make a lovely gift for children of this age who would have lots of enjoyment from making a bee springtime friend. I would absolutely purchase this bunny as a gift, particularly with Easter approaching. Melissa and Doug are a brand I have happily shopped from for years but this is my first experience of their ‘soft toys’ and it has definitely encouraged me to explore the other soft toys available in their range. The quality of this toy is outstanding and I feel it is excellent value for money. Burrow Bunny is certainly a welcome addition to our family!
