Lululemon emailed me to let me know the product was being despatched and it took a week from then to arrive, via Royal Mail. The person who emailed me was polite and responsive when I emailed back to them.
The hair ties arrived in a large brown envelope (along with another hair accessory). The envelope was a little large, (even for both items), but it was recyclable, as was the cardboard that the hair ties were attached to. The hair ties arrived in good condition.
The hair ties come in a pack of three for £10. The ties themselves feature a silver metal Lululemon decoration which provides a little bit of bling for your hair! The colours I received were one in black, and two of different brown shades (French Press and Java).
I have quite thick, long hair and often tie it back, so I was expecting these hair ties to be like the usual ones I wear that cost a lot less than these do.
And whilst, just looking at them, I did wonder how these hair ties could be valued at a RRP of £10, but I must admit, they did feel more robust and better quality than my other hair ties, particularly when stretching them, to put my hair up.
And, when my hair was tied up in a pony tail, it felt secure, yet not as tightly bound as some hair ties can be. This may be due to the fact that they had a bigger circumference than my usual ones, so did not need to stretch as much to wrap around my hair three times.
I have to be honest and say that think £10 is excessive for three hair ties, even with a silver motif included, but they are excellent quality and feel nicer in your hair than the cheaper ones I would usually wear. You can also buy a pack of six of the same hair ties for £25, which does not make sense when you could just buy two packs of three ties for £10 each!!
I also wear my hair ties around my wrist sometimes, usually, if I have removed the tie and have nowhere to put it, and they are often really quite tight around my wrist. What I really liked about these ties is that wearing one around my wrist was comfortable, not tight at all, did not dig into my wrist, and actually could double for a casual bracelet, with the silver decoration being a lovely feature when worn like this. Wearing all three bands around the wrist together also makes an even nicer bracelet!
These hair ties do stand out as a higher quality than other hair ties I have tried in the past. And if you like quality accessories for your hair these do have a nice feel and look about them.
I would recommend the product to anyone who needs to tie their hair back, but I would feel I have to mention the price to them as well. I personally would buy these again, now that I have tried them, and it will be interesting to see, over time, if they last longer than the cheaper ones I have used in the past.
The hair ties are made in China from zinc alloy, elastane, polyester and polyurethane and can be washed.
Lululemon was founded in Vancouver in 1998 and started operating from a yoga studio. They make “technical athletic clothes for yoga, running, working out, and most other sweaty pursuits” with an obvious lean towards yoga. Their clothing ranges are for men and women and are quite high-end in terms of pricing. They also sell sports activity accessories and gifts.
Lululemon, as a business, promote a holistic approach to equity, wellbeing and sustainability, creating a positive impact across social and environmental issues, for example, having a Vendor Code of Ethics, and, quite brilliantly, offer a free repair service for any of their clothes to ensure users get the most out of their investment in Lululemon purchases.
Rating: 4/5 – I do like these hair ties, but at £10.00, I feel a bit too over-priced.
The recommended price for this kit is £10
