Our family got to spend a day at Greenwood Family Park in North Wales and honestly, we all came home saying the same thing – when can we go back?

The weather was incredibly pleasant too, considering we’ve experienced such a terrible heatwave this week. It was lovely and sunny for most of the day, so it was ideal for being outside. Thankfully, so much of the park is enclosed by trees, and there was a lot of shade whenever we took a water break.

The first ride we made our way to was the Green Dragon Roller Coaster – I had heard about this ride and was very much looking forward to it. This is the only people-powered rollercoaster in the world! It ended up being one of our favourites. It was just the perfect amount of pleasure for a family ride. We also loved the 60m long Solar Splash, particularly in the hot weather, and the 75m long Forest Glider was great fun. The Enchanted River Ride was a nice peaceful ride which gave us the opportunity to slow things down for a brief time before heading off to explore the rest of the park.

The children enjoyed a lovely time in the adventure play areas and on the TreeTop Towers. We also enjoyed a go on the MoonKarts and carefully moved along the BareFoot Trail, which was something we hadn’t done in years and had everyone laughing. What stood out to me very much was that there are so many activities, everywhere you turned, there was something else you could get busy with.

One thing we all noticed was how clean and well looked after everything was. The whole park has a really relaxed feel, and the staff were friendly all day. Whether we were asking for directions to and from rides or the loos, everyone was happy to help. There were lots of places to sit, have a picnic or grab something to eat, so it never felt overcrowded. The café looked great and has a menu online GW-Woodbarn-Menu-2026-digital.pdf but we brought our own picnic and enjoyed sitting outside in one of many picnic areas provided.

We were also amazed by the queue times. Regardless of it being a warm summer day, we fared well and managed to fit loads into our visit without waiting too long at any point. And before we knew it, the day was over and it was time to return home.

If you’re planning a trip, which I definitely recommend, I would very much advise booking your tickets online beforehand at www.greenwoodfamilypark.co.uk. It’s quick, easy and means you can head straight in when you arrive. Prices vary for number of people, ages and height and peak and off-peak seasons.
We all had such an exceptional family day out. And the rides, play areas, beautiful woodland setting and friendly atmosphere made it a fabulous day out, it really is somewhere we’d recommend to other families, maybe just with slightly younger children. Our day was filled with so many new memories made and we’ll definitely be back.

We rate the day as 5/5 and would encourage families with young children to make sure they visit this family attraction.

GreenWood is taking part in the Government’s Summer of Savings scheme from Thursday (25th), so VAT on all tickets to the park has been cut from 20% to 5% – and they’re staying that way until 1st September. This means families can enjoy an amazing day out together for even less over the summer holidays. What a fantastic opportunity!
