La Redoute Sleeveless 2-in-1 Effect Dress Review
Sleeveless 2-in-1 Effect Dress

I shop online quite regularly, but not that often for clothes as I usually like to try before I buy, but given the opportunity to select something from La Redoute I couldn’t resist. I think the brand is so stylish and sophisticated, and there were so many items on the website that caught my eye. With the French influence there are many items that just have something a little different about them, that you don’t see in the regular high street stores. The cost of some of the full price items are a little higher than I like to pay, but the online sale that is on at the minute (as of 24 December) is incredible with some items having 60% knocked off them!
I opted for a navy and floral, 2-in-1 effect dress. A style I haven’t really seen in stores before it is sleeveless with a round neck and two layers, the underneath acting as an underskirt in plain navy. The top layer is a thin voile with a plain panel down the front which is navy, and large flower print all over the back and sides. The colours in the print are a beautiful mix of pink, purples and bright blue. I am around a size 12 to 14, but with this dress I picked a size 14 as items like this I like to wear loose. This particular dress is from the plus size range Taillissime, with sizes starting from 14 and ranging up to 32, which I think is fantastic. Having never purchased from La Redoute before I was interested to see how the fit would be, and was excited to receive my item.
On delivery, I noted that the dress was well wrapped and as I unfolded it, I was pleased to see that it could be worn straight away, as the material and folding technique meant that there were minimal creases. The dress is 100% polyester and so after hanging for an hour or so it meant that even the faintest crease had dropped out. The colours and design looked even nicer up close, than on the website. I tried the dress on and was happy to find it fit just as I’d hoped, giving me a lovely shape whilst not being too tight. There was a lovely flow to the garment and the finish and material was to a high quality. One of the best features is the pockets, almost hidden away and barely noticeable, depending what items you have in them. For me they are just perfect for tucking in a tissue, anything too heavy may throw off the shape of the dress. The fabric is light and extremely comfortable, while the style means it can be dressed up or down. I paired it with navy leggings and flat boots for a relaxing Sunday dinner with family, and I felt amazing. Already I was thinking about when I could wear it next and how this would also be a perfect summer dress with sandals. Something I always think of too late when buying clothes are the washing instructions, and for a minute I was worried about what the care instructions for this dress would be. Thankfully it is machine washable at 30 degrees, and just needs hanging up to dry to let the creases fall out. Perfect.
After being so pleased with this dress I will certainly be shopping from La Redoute again. I am happy with every aspect of the dress and have received nothing but nice comments on the fit, look and style of the dress. At the price it is now on the website, £26.00 (usually £65) it is an absolute bargain, and I see myself getting a lot of wear in the years to come. I would gladly and openly recommend this brand to anyone and rate my dress 5 out of 5. I love it!
