No, that’s not me being rude.  That is the name of a new family game from the creators of Exploding Kittens.  If you are familiar with the Exploding Kittens game or the company then you probably won’t be at all surprised by the unusual name of this latest game.

If you are looking for a fun, engaging present for children or teens for Christmas then I am sure this game would go down well!  It is suitable for 4+ years and is for 2 to 6 players.

Hurry Up Chicken Butt is a hot potato style game.  At the beginning of the game three cards are drawn, one from each of the three piles of cards.  Plus the chicken butt card is placed somewhere of your choice but everyone knows where it is.  The players all sit in a circle, whether it be just 2 people or 6.  Press the button to start the chicken.  Shake it and the dice colour corresponds to an action.  This could be the blue task, the purple task, the green task, roll again or go touch the chicken butt.  Once you have successfully completed your task you can pass the chicken to the next player. But if the chicken starts loudly clucking then game over and the previous person is declared the winner.

With such a hectic, crazy concept (and name!) you would be forgiven for thinking that a child came up with the idea. That’s because they did!  It wasn’t the creator behind Exploding Kittens, who has 25 years experience of making games, who created Hurry Up Chicken Butt.  It was his four year daughter!  For this reason you just know this game will be a big hit with young children.  But, actually, it is so zany and whimsical that it’s the current favourite game of everyone in our family.

What I like is that the challenges are accomplishable by all ages and everyone will get their own enjoyment out of the tasks.  Kids, of course, will love an energetic task like go around everyone sticking your arms out like an airplane.  But then watching Grandpa pilot his way round the room too is a sight that will make everyone giggle.

The game retails at £19.99 and just like all the other games we have played from the company it is excellent quality, really well made and well worth the money for how much game play and enjoyment we will get out of it.  It comes packaged in a compact, fun cardboard box.  Inside is the chicken shaker, 6 playmats, the chicken butt and 45 activity cards.  The chicken shaker requires 2 AAA batteries which are not included so make sure to stock up beforehand.

So if you fancy walking sideways like a crab or attempting to scream as quietly as you can or maybe clapping with your feet then I highly recommend Hurry Up Chicken Butt as a Christmas present this year.
