The purpose of this item is to promote brighter and firmer skin and to tone facial muscles. It’s a small, lightweight, palm length item with two rotating rollers coming off the handle.

The item arrived in a standard brown cardboard box, which opened to the product in its own packaging. The external box of the product is appealing, with a picture of the item and some icons stating the item is solar powered, has a micro current and brightens complexion. It also states that it, ‘Replicates the effect of a gentle kneading massage and promotes brighter and firmer skin’ and that ‘360-degree spinning rollers deeply massage and lift the skin to visibly tone facial muscles’ and ‘70-degree angle designed to combat both small and large contours of the face’. The inside held the product alongside a grey cloth storage bag, matching coloured grey cleaning cloth and instruction booklet. The product itself is mainly shiny silver, although the handle has a black section which houses the solar panel, which it says generates a micro current to firm the face.

The instructions are clear and straightforward, with just 4 pages of pictures and instructions (with the rest of the booklet showing the same instructions in other languages). It states that the item can be used on the face, neck and arms and describes how to correctly use it on each area. It also helpfully states that you can apply moisturiser, cream or oil prior to use.

I’m not normally one to buy in to gimmicks or spend lots on beauty products but I enjoyed using this product, purely because it felt nice on my face. It feels particularly pleasant used directly after applying a moisturiser, as it makes it glide on the skin more. If using it this way, it is easily cleaned using a damp cloth. However, it states that it should never be immersed in water.
If I’m being honest, I’m not quite sure what the solar panel and microcurrent are actually doing or where in the product they are doing it or delivering it. I assume the solar panel sends some sort of charge to something internally in the product that then provides something to the roller balls that you roll on your skin? On the plus side, it doesn’t require any batteries in order to do this trickery (Can you tell I’m not a scientist yet? Therefore, I thought I’d better check the website details;) On the website it states that the microcurrent helps stimulate blood circulation, helping to increase elasticity in the face and smooth skin to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (a much better explanation than mine was ever going to be!).
I couldn’t write this review without mentioning that you have to look past what the product looks like, which is either slightly phallic or like a product for a different part of the body!
Does it firm your face? Honestly, I’m not sure. I think I’ll have to keep using it for longer before determining that. I’m also not really sure what I’m looking for in terms of firming, nor would see it unless it was an obvious change. I’ve reached an age where I feel I should probably start taking a bit more care of my skin to avoid it ageing though. As it is one of those products that may help firm and isn’t going to cause any harm using it, while it feels nice to use it I will keep on doing so as part of a revised beauty regime. What’s the worst it can do?! What’s better is that it may actually make a difference and it doesn’t involve tonnes of chemicals, huge expense or lots of effort (none of which I’m keen on!).
If you have a person in your life who likes trying out beauty products, then I may just have found you a slightly different Christmas gift option for them… although aimed at women (all pictures on the box are female) there’s no reason why it wouldn’t also be suitable for relevant men in your life.
Because I am unsure of the impact of longer-term use of this product, I rate this:
4/5.
Rating: 4/5
RRP: £39.99 but currently on sale at £24
