Heads and Tails Jewellery Friend and Me Necklace Keepsake Review

I love getting a new necklace but I’m pretty picky about what I will and won’t wear, as I actually don’t wear jewellery all that often these days; therefore, if I choose to get something new, it has to be pretty special so that I will be drawn to wear it when I go out, or just because. I was very intrigued by the idea of a necklace from Heads and Tails Jewellery, who are a small business that make jewellery which is personalised to a specific year. The way they do this is by using coins minted in specific years that they then highly polish and mount so they can be worn as a necklace, cufflinks or a keyring. They even use coins to make rings!

The necklace I received to review is from their new range called Me and You jewellery and the special idea behind this is that each necklace or keyring has two coins on it; you pick the years and Heads and Tails Jewellery do the rest, by picking out random coins minted in those years and then setting them beautifully as a wonderful sentimental reminder of two meaningful years for the wearer. I chose our birth years, so that the necklace I received had a coin minted in my birth year and a coin minted in the birth year of my husband. I had no idea what to expect beyond that, but the necklace arrived in a beautiful sturdy presentation box, and when I took it out I immediately wanted to wear it. The coins chosen were a 1p and a 10p, but polished to perfection and then set into mounts that complemented the colours of the coins. The mounts add a lovely weight to the necklace, which I really like when wearing jewellery like this, and the polished mount and coins were very tactile.

Perhaps you want a necklace to be an anniversary present, so you could choose the year of your wedding, or a loved one’s wedding. You could celebrate any occasion in the same way – birthdays, memorial dates, weddings, or anything where the date is meaningful to you or the recipient of the gift. If you were getting married you could get cufflinks and keyrings as gifts for the best man and maid of honour with the date of the wedding on them for example.

This jewellery is really beautifully and well made and I love wearing the necklace that I chose the dates for. You are wearing a little piece of history too, as the coins were minted in the year you pick, so each coin on my necklace is exactly as old as myself and my husband. Heads and Tails Jewellery do warn that as the jewellery is plated with silver, gold or rose gold, your jewellery can tarnish due to the natural oils in skin, so you can keep it looking its best by cleaning it with a jewellery cloth. The benefit of it being plated is that you can still have a beautiful finish without it costing hundreds.
