Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 Instant Camera Review

Reviewed by Debbie Talbot

One of my favourite possessions as a teenager was my instant camera. To say I was excited to be offered a Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 Instant Camera is an understatement, as I knew my teenage daughter would love it. The camera arrived nicely packaged in a stunning box. It has a vintage style to it and fills me with nostalgia. Also in the box were green, orange and pink filters and a camera strap. The instruction leaflet was clearly laid out and therefore easy to follow. The camera strap had to be attached to the camera and the batteries inserted. Once the camera is switched on, the lens pops out. The modes are selected via a simple mode button and are as follows:

  • Auto
  • Selfie
  • Macro
  • Landscape
  • Darken
  • Lighten
  • Double Exposure

I love the fact that there are so many shooting modes you can choose from. I started simple and selected Auto. The film was really easy to insert into the camera by pulling down on the flap at the back of the camera.

The other two buttons on the back of the camera are a timer and a button to switch off the flash. I aimed at what I wanted to take a picture of, then pressed the round button on the front of the camera. It literally took just a few seconds for an undeveloped picture to pop out of the top of the camera. The picture itself took a couple of minutes to appear.

My daughter has tried out more of the functions and loves the camera. She cannot wait to use it while she is having fun with her friends.

Packs of film are available from various online and offline retailers for a reasonable price. The camera is available in a variety of colour options.
