Home – Fruitbowl – Fruit Snacks putting fun into Fruit (fruit-bowl.com)
With two small humans demanding an endless supply of snacks from dusk til dawn, I was excited to be given the opportunity to review some products from Fruit Bowl, as the brand makes a regular appearance in our house.
I received the bundle really quickly, arriving in an outer cardboard box, wrapped in bubble wrap, so the items were in pristine condition when they arrived. The box contained 2 packs of Fruit Bowl Yummy Yogurt Fruit Goals and 2 boxes of Fruit Bowl Strawberry & Vanilla flavour Fruity Twists.

As soon as my 5 year clapped eyes on the box, he was keen to give them a try. We started with the Fruity Twists. Inside each box of Fruity Twists were 5 individually wrapped bars of 16g, perfect for lunch boxes and on the go. The description on the back of the box was that these were a strawberry & vanilla milkshake flavour fruit snack made from concentrated apple puree & fruit juice and chopped dried apricots with freeze dried strawberry pieces. What struck me straight away from the packaging was that they are:
• made with real fruit
• with no artificial colours or flavours
• contain no added sugar
• are milk, dairy and gluten free
• they contribute to 1 of your 5 a day and
• are high in fibre.

All of these are great selling points for a snack aimed at children, so I was happy to let him tuck in. When we opened the pack, the Fruity Twist looked exactly like the picture on the front of the box. My son wasn’t particularly keen on the taste though and when I had a nibble, I found it was quite a strong, concentrated taste. However personally I don’t really enjoy the taste of kids snacks like these although the texture was palatable. On the other hand my daughter tucked straight in and devoured the whole bar.
I liked the design of the box and think it appeals to both children and parents. It was quite easy to see what you should expect to find in the box, which is what you want when you’re rushing around the supermarket. The box is fully recyclable and the individual wrappers are recyclable through the single use plastic recycling facilities at most supermarkets.
The following day we tried the Yummy Yogurt Fruit Goals; it wasn’t immediately obvious from the front of the pack what we could expect to find as on the front they are marketed as “real fruit in tasty yogurt”, it was only upon reading the back of the pack I knew that the fruit was raisins. Personally I would prefer it to be a bit more obvious on the front of the pack, but that’s just my opinion.
These snacks are football-themed, with 4 cartoon animals on the front of the pack, stood in front of a goal. When we opened the outer pack, we found 5 individually wrapped 18g bags of yogurt coated raisins inside. These bags are perfect lunch box sized. What my children really loved about these yogurt coated raisins was that they were coloured red, white and blue, which is something we’ve never seen before and is definitely a unique selling point of the product. I was pleased to note that only natural colours and flavours are used for the yogurt, which I would expect for a product aimed directly at children.
We were slightly perplexed by the size of these coated raisins, some of them were huge! It’s quite common for toddlers to eat raisins and I think it would be beneficial to make parents aware that some of them are on the larger side and could potentially be a choking hazard if eaten directly from the pack, without being cut up, if the child was to swallow one.
After I had cut the bigger ones up, my daughter demolished the pack and then proceeded to ask for more, which can only mean that she thoroughly enjoyed them and certainly means that the statement of the pack of them being incredibly moreish rings true!
Again, all packaging is recyclable through the single-use plastic recycling collections at most major supermarkets, where offered.
As a company, Fruit Bowl specialise in healthy snacks aimed at children. We’ve tried a number of their products before and are big fans. They offer a selection of school bars, fruit flakes and yogurt coated fruits. Their range can be found at: https://www.fruit-bowl.com/products/
The Fruity Twists are £2.75 for a pack of 5 (currently on offer at Tesco for £2) and the Yogurt Fruit Goals are £2.25 for a pack of 5 (currently on offer at Tesco for £1.75). I feel the RRP is high for the size of individual packs/ bars that you get. Obviously the offer price would be more reasonable. I would probably only buy them again when they are on offer.
