Ellenborough Park invites couples to experience romance and history on their wedding day
A wedding should be the most memorable day of any couple’s life, and what better way to celebrate than in the luxurious and stunning Cotswolds surroundings of Ellenborough Park.
Set in 90-acres of rolling green countryside, the newly renovated 16th century country estate is the very picture of a romantic English country house steeped in centuries of history, with its stately limestone architecture, detailed Tudor-style interior and sumptuous furnishings by internationally-acclaimed designer, Nina Campbell.
There are several places within the grounds where vows can be exchanged. Outside is a beautiful, exotic carved gazebo built by one of the estate’s former owners, Lord Ellenborough, to celebrate his time as Governor General of India. Located in the manicured gardens, the sandstone gazebo is a unique and romantic backdrop.
Couples can also get married in the Ellenborough Gallery, featuring lofty ceilings, a glass fronted balcony with tiered seating, and original arched windows typical of a country church. Decorated with a hand painted leaf detail, it provides a stunning setting for civil ceremonies for up to 120 guests.
Also for weddings, the De La Bere Court seats up to 100 people, and doubles as a spacious banqueting and wedding breakfast venue. The function room has its own bar, glass roof and intelligent LED lighting system, where lights can be selected to coordinate wedding colour schemes or simply set the mood.
For their wedding night, couples can choose from a selection of stunning, romantic suites, including the Istabraq, a magnificent vaulted, oak-beamed room with a four poster bed and open plan bathroom featuring a roll top bath. The Arkle suite is of a similar size and features original oak panelled walls, its own private dining room, and direct access to the gardens.
Bespoke wedding breakfast and canapé menus are crafted by David Kelman, executive head chef who is acclaimed for his locally sourced signature dishes such as, Loin of Gloucestershire Old Spot Pork with Savoy Cabbage or Braised Shin of Hereford Cross Beef.
The fine dining team also create seasonal speciality desserts and hand-selected cheese boards, all perfectly matched with fine wines personally chosen by head sommelier, Tobias Brauweiler*.
Bespoke wedding make-up and hair services are also available on site at the Spa at Ellenborough Park, the perfect place to unwind before a wedding in the tranquil surroundings of the Indian-themed interior that features a hydrotherapy pool with seven treatment rooms, a relaxation room and twin room for couples. The Spa therapists specialise in exotic treatments such as the indulgent Four Hands Massage and the Journey Rituals from Africa, India and Asia, which offer the ultimate relaxation in the run up to your big day.
Ellenborough Park’s team of wedding coordinators ensure the very highest service standards, and are on hand to guarantee that everything runs smoothly to a couple’s specification from the initial enquiry to the very last detail leaving the bride and groom to relax and enjoy their perfect day.
