Flip-A-Shape Yum! Review

Reviewed by Allison Sherwood

I tested this book out on my grandson who is 3 and my two granddaughters who are 3 and 1. The book teaches young children shapes (including Circle, Triangle, Square and Crescent) in a fun easy to use format by matching shapes to recognisable items such as an Apple, Pizza, Block of Cheese, Ice Cream Cone and a Banana.

This book is very bright and colourful so it instantly grabbed the attention of the children. As the book is made of thick shiny card it was easy for small hands to hold and easily turn the pages and is also easy to wipe clean as we discovered when the one year old enjoyed putting her sticky hands all over it.

My 3 year old grandson can already recognise the shapes including the crescent and my 3 year old granddaughter has mastered the circle and square and most of the time the triangle.

The one year old does not recognise shapes yet but she really enjoys looking at the bright colours and shapes.

Be prepared to read this book over and over again as once the children have learnt the shapes they will keep coming back for you to look at the book with them so they can show off their new skills.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a fun easy way to introduce young children to the world of shapes.
