Jimmy’s Restaurant Luton Review

Reviewed by Tricia Shaw
We visited Jimmy’s in Luton, Bedfordshire for a relaxing family meal and had a very enjoyable time. Our table was booked for 6:30pm and when we arrived it was quiet so we were able to choose a table near the food. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive and were quick to bring our drinks to the table. The children were treated to an Aero Milkshake each which they thoroughly enjoyed.

The food on offer was really quite extensive with something to suit everyone’s tastes. Although we decided not to have any of the starters, these included a range of salads as well as sushi and some Indian cuisine. In the way of mains there really was so much choice. For those that like spicy foods there were a number of curries including the goat curry which was too hot for me, but as I can’t take much more than a Korma I was not surprised. My husband, who always selects the hottest dishes on the menu, was very complimentary of the jerk chicken which was served with rice and a sweet mash. I opted for the Sunday roast and salmon which were served with a good variety of freshly cooked vegetables. While lots of the food was ready cooked and available for you to serve yourself whenever you wanted, the live stations offered even more selections: fajitas with a choice of fillings, different pastas with a choice of sauces, Chinese noodle station, pizza, and last but by no means least the naan breads. The children were fascinated watching the chef prepare and cook their peshwari naan and it was absolutely delicious.

After multiple trips to the main buffet it was time to have a look at the desserts. There was a selection of fresh fruit as well as bite sized portions of chocolate cake, black forest gateau, blueberry custard slice, chocolate brownie, lemon cheesecake and carrot cake. Finally, of course there were all the different flavours of ice cream.

We really liked the buffet style which allows you to choose your own portion sizes as well as enabling you to sample all the different cuisines. With the plates ready and waiting by the buffet you can get your food as soon as you want so this restaurant is particularly suitable for families with hungry children that don’t want to wait.
We did find the music quite loud which meant it was hard to hear each other and the lighting in the toilets would benefit from being brighter. However, all in all it was a very pleasant meal in a family friendly atmosphere. On the way home the children were already asking when we could go back!
