I was really excited to be given the opportunity to review the Creative MUVO Free clip on wireless speaker with microphone. I’m usually a bit of a technophobe, but I certainly didn’t need to worry with this fab little bit of kit.
The MUVO Free arrived really quickly and I couldn’t wait to check it out. When I opened the package, it was in pristine condition. I liked the design on the box, it was simple, yet effective, detailing exactly what I should find in the box and giving an overview of the product.
Inside the box, was the following:
1x Creative MUVO Free speaker
1 x USB-A to USB-C 0.3m cable
1 x lanyard/ wrist strap
1 x Quick start leaflet
The first thing I did was pair the speaker to my mobile phone using Bluetooth (it has Bluetooth 5.4), it was really straightforward and I managed it first time, with connectivity taking less than a minute. So that was a big bonus!
My kids like to watch TV shows on YouTube and other streaming services on my mobile phone, so we gave that a whirl and it played through the speaker just like that. What I loved about it, was the clarity of the sound and how super-easy it is to use.
The device also has a microphone, so I also gave a phone call a try to see how that worked. It was brilliant, crystal clear from both my perspective and also at the receiver’s end too. I loved the fact that you can increase and decrease the volume, to get the perfect level, depending on who you’re speaking to.
The speaker itself is small (50x72x30.5mm) and weighs only 86g, so it is really easy to carry around. It has a clip so you can clip it on to what you’re wearing or onto a bag or similar. Also, it has a detachable lanyard/ wrist strap if that is your preference. To top it off, it’s also magnetic, so you could stick it on your fridge or something else magnetic when out and about. Due to its size, it would be perfect to take on holiday with you, especially if you only have carry on hand luggage.
From a single battery charge, the speaker can run for up to 9 hours, depending on the volume used (moderate volume being optimum), which is more than enough I think. It has a built in Lithium polymer battery, so needs to be charged. The USB-A to USB-C cable supplied requires a plug to be connected, to allow charging. The plug isn’t supplied, but most mobile phones come with these plugs nowadays.
The speaker is IPX5 water-resistant, so although it can’t be fully submerged in water, it would be resistant to low-pressure water sprays and splashes.
It’s also brilliant, as you can connect two of these speakers to your Bluetooth for a wireless stereo link. So it would be perfect to take out and about for a social event, such as a beach party or a picnic in the forest. The possibilities are endless! It has a 10m range, which I think would be plenty when you’re out and about.
To top it all off, you get a 2 year hardware warranty with the product, which is always a bonus to have, for those just in case moments.
The MUVO Free has an RRP of £19.99, which I think is very reasonable for such a useful and easy to carry piece of kit. I would definitely purchase this product for myself of for a loved one too, as it’s so affordable.
I think the MUVO Free is brilliant and would 100% recommend it to all my friends and family. It’s easy to use, looks great and with Mother’s Day approaching in the not too distant future, I think this would make a great Mother’s Day present, which I’m positive would be well received.
