If you are searching for something a bit more than just a night light for a baby or a small child then the ‘Cloud Box – My First Dream Box’ is the perfect solution!
The Cloud Box from Cloud B is a portable and imaginative product. After a lot of research and reading other parents’ reviews of similar products available for babies and children, I can honestly say that the Cloud Box is just fantastic! It is not just a projector, nor is it just a music box – it is so much more! It is a storyteller box too and it is also bilingual, as the stories are available in English and French at the switch of a button.
When the Cloud Box arrived I liked the size, because it is not too big or too small. It’s quite lightweight and extremely simple to use. I had the box up and running within a few seconds of unpacking and I didn’t even need to read the instructions that were provided (I have subsequently read them to check that I wasn’t missing anything – they are simple yet comprehensive).
The Cloud Box is cloud-shaped and the colourway is that of oatmeal and sage green giving the appearance of a natural and neutral design. I played around with the two sage green knobs on the front of the box, enjoying pretty light shows, simple musical tunes and a wide variety of stories. There are also three small rectangular buttons situated on the front – power, repeat and play; as well as the two main round knobs, there are also two smaller dials at the side, one to control the volume and another to control the intensity of the lighting, for the light show. There is also a switch on the base to turn the box from French to English and vice versa. On the left-hand side of the box is a headphone jack socket for the older toddler/child to plug in and listen in an environment where headphones might be required e.g. on an aeroplane flight. There is a USB-C charger cable included in the box although you will need to use your USB 3-pin plug as this is not provided, the USB-C charging cable socket is on the back of the Cloud Box.
A storybook is included in the box, again in French and English.
It is also possible to record your voice, perhaps reading stories or recording yourself singing or recording your preferred music (it is important to note that the recording feature is limited to just 8 minutes).
The light show (via the right knob) comprises star, forest, ocean and village patterns. The melodies, sounds and stories (are all accessed via the left-hand knob) include simple characters – sheep, fawn, lion, turtle, elephant, dragon, unicorn, little boy and little girl.
My husband and I were mesmerised and found it all quite peaceful and relaxing, hopefully, the new arrival will think the same.
The projector isn’t intense enough for our ridiculously high Victorian ceilings but it is a great feature.
Although this is a fairly expensive item, retailing at £69.99, the Cloud Box is packed with features and contents, the variations are extensive and will keep your little one occupied for long periods. I feel that this dream box will ‘grow’ with the baby and potentially will be used for many years, making this great value for money. I particularly like the record feature and feel that this is a great option to include.
