We didn’t know what to expect when we visited The Lowry last night to see Cirque Berserk… and I think the best phrase I can sum up the whole show in would be “jaw slappingly amazing!”

I have never seen such a fast moving, action filled extravaganza than this! We were treated to act after act of mesmerizing acrobatic stunts, dancers, incredible aerialists, a tyre juggling, log lifting strong man called Hercules, a hilarious award winning ‘modern day’ clown, a knife throwing man wearing a top hat – narrowly missing a spinning woman, the most incredible limbo dancing acrobats – who unbelievably limbo danced under a bar propped up by two beer bottle – and if that was not enough, the bar was on fire! and the finale act, and undoubtedly the highlight of the evening; death defying stuntmen who rode motorbikes around a huge metal hamster cage – together –  in the dark!!!

I spent most of the evening shaking my head in disbelief at the incredible acts that were unfolding in front of my eyes, covering my gasping mouth – and at the knife throwing section, I covered my eyes, peeking through my fingers like a child!

It was an awesome night, watching a team over 30 incredibly strong and talented individuals entertain a crowd who visibly loved what they were seeing! The show had no words – or age barriers and I would quite happily have taken my 7 year old daughter to see it. The show lasted for approximately 1.5 hours including an interval – short enough to keep little people entertained, but as it was jam packed with fun, laughter and non-stop entertainment, it was long enough for adults too.

The show had loud, dramatic music throughout, fabulous lighting and at one point strobes too! Added to the smoke filled stage, giving a mysterious and intriguing atmosphere.

The show is traveling the country at the moment and is only at The Lowry for a few days, but I do urge you to go get tickets and go and see it If you can!

Cirque Berserk – it really must be ‘seen to be believed!’
