I was pleased to be asked to review the pantomime at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford as it a great venue with a cafe and bar and ample parking nearby. This year’s production is Cinderella which stars among others the wonderful Bonnie Langford as the Fairy Godmother, the multi-talented Kit Hesketh-Harvey as one of the Ugly sisters and Eagle FM’s Peter Gordon as the other Ugly Sister.
I took along my 11 year old daughter and 6 year old son who both got into the spirit if things; booing and hissing at the antics of the ‘baddies’ and cheering on Buttons. I even joined in myself!
The cast and audience were both enthusiastic and we were entertained for over 2 hours and a few mis-timed lines added to the laughter. The Ugly Sisters were definitely a hit with my 6 year old while myself and my daughter found Buttons to be the star of the show. At the end of the show the cast were joined on stage by a few lucky children from the audience and some early Christmas presents were handed out.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we would highly recommend this production to both kids and adults.
