Chill Factore Snow Park Review

Manchester

Reviewed by Debbie Talbot

My 7-year-old twins had been asking to visit the Chill Factore snow park for months, so when we were given the chance to review it, we jumped at the opportunity.

Booking in our hour’s session was so easy. We arrived 20 minutes or so early and picked up our tickets from the customer service booth within the Chill Factore building. If you do not fancy queuing, self-service machines are available too. We then joined a short queue for the equipment hire desk. There we collected ski jackets, waterproof trousers and boots from helpful and efficient staff. I had to swap the size of my clothing and this was sorted out quickly too. We got changed in one of the cubicles. There was also a group change available which I have used in the past when I attended one of my sons’ friend’s birthday parties. The toilet facilities are clean and clearly well maintained. We then moved over to the bench and locker area to put our boots on, lockers use a returnable £1 coin. Our belongings fitted nicely into one locker. We then headed out to the snow park via the helmet racks where we each picked up a helmet. A clock clearly displayed the time, so you knew how much time you had left to enjoy the snow park.

First of all, one of my twins and the other adult in our party headed up the slope with a 2 person donut. They both had great fun spinning down the slope, shrieking with excitement on the way down. The other twin was more cautious about trying out the activities. That said, he had great fun spending the hour watching his brother and throwing snowballs at mummy. After having great fun on the donuts, the more adventurous twin and the other adult headed up the sledge slope. On their first go they shared a 2 person sledge. The look of excitement on little T’s face on the way down the slope was a picture. I did want to mention at this point how well organised the activities are. There are members of staff at the top of the slopes instructing the activity participants when they can go down the slope. For example, people walk across the sledging slope to get to the smaller of the two ski slopes. It was good to see that the staff stopped sledgers going down the hill until the people had safely walked across. After one attempt sharing a sledge, little T had great fun racing the other adult down the sledging slope on his own sledge. T and the other adult then spent the remainder of our hour’s session on the ice slide. This involved taking a mat up to the start of the slide and then sliding down at speed around some exciting bends.

We all had such a fantastic time and cannot wait to go again. I am actually considering booking my twins 8th birthday party at Chill Factore in 2020. The last thing I wanted to mention was how warm the hire clothing was. I hate being cold and despite being out in the snow for an hour I did not feel the cold at all.  My twins are actually asking about having skiing lessons so I will be looking into this in the new year.
