We have long coveted the Henry Vacuum Cleaner made by Casdon. We have four grandchildren and they have all had a fascination for our adult Henry Hoover! Ever helpful children they frequently do their best to unravel the electrical cord and swoosh the cleaner head around the living room, even though it’s way too big for them.

The Henry is a replica of the well known hoover, suitable for children age three years and upwards. It arrived well packaged in a cardboard box. It was very quick easy and simple to assemble. If you do struggle there is a comprehensive instruction leaflet included in the box.

You did need four c size batteries to complete the assembly, well worth them for this means you can switch on the hoover which has working suction. Much like the adult version it comes with two changeable hoovering tools which fit cutely on the bag when not in use. There is a toddler size button on the side which enables the child to switch on the hoover. Although our two smallest grandchildren kept trying to push the the Green on button, they had very obviously been paying attention when I use the adult hoover!

There is nothing wrong with toys that teach children skills, which I think this lovely little hoover does. Nothing wrong with getting the boys domesticated I say! My son doesn’t agree but we are ignoring him. The two smallest grandchildren are boys and they absolutely love this, so much so they have a little tug of war over this. It’s amazing that even at their young age, they use the hoover in the right way, pulling the extendable cord out, which has a lovely little sound to it. Just like with my hoover, they have sat winding the cord back in over and over again. The cord even has a little sucker on it, which means they can secure to the wall safely and pretend they have plugged it in. Their little faces when they are playing with it are so funny, full of concentration.

Our little lady ****** (editor’s note – name removed) adores it, the boys don’t get a look in when she is here. Unfortunate, she thinks hoovering the cats is a good game, one of which is actually called Henry. It’s very funny to hear her calling the cat and the hoover and trying to get the cat to play the game. I think it’s excellent that there are toys like this on the market, it can only be good for small children to role play with every day household items. It normalises tasks and teaches a variety of skills at an age they are so open to learning. Although on first look you might wonder what children would get out of a toy hoover, I think it’s fab, they use a variety of motor skills whilst having fun.

It’s a hit with us and our little ones, I would recommend every grandparent gets one! We have them hoovering the living room up before they go home, win win!

Rating: It’s a 5/5 from us.
