Everybody knows the name Beethoven. Most will associate the name with the German composer and his music. But there is another, now meet the world’s second most famous Beethoven; Beethoven the 185lb St Bernard dog! Available on Blu-ray from 26 June 2017 from Fabulous Films.

Stolen by dognappers as a puppy from a pet shop, along with only pups, the tiny and cute St Bernard puppy manages to escape where he finds his way to the home of the Newtons and adopts them, against the wishes of George Newton (Charles Grodin). The puppy is soon named Beethoven and grows into a 185lb monster of drool, disaster and love.

Loved by all the family, except George, Beethoven dotes on them all, protecting them and helping them with issues such as self-confidence.

When a nasty vet (Dean Jones) needs a large dog for an unspeakable experiment, he sets his sights on Beethoven and it is down to George to save him.

Beethoven is an excellent family film. Beethoven may be an enormous dog but he is very lovable and provides lots of comic humour, like fainting at the sight of needles.

Charles Grodin and Bonnie Hunt are fantastic, especially Grodin as the uptight Dad. David Duchovny is great as the smooth and conniving investor. Dean Jones makes a perfect villain. Sarah Rose Karr (the youngest of the Newton children) is excellent and adorable. Beethoven is clearly the star and is brilliant.

Beethoven is a fantastic comedy that children and adults will enjoy.
