Weaning is one of the messiest and time-consuming aspects of early parenting. Many different items have therefore been designed to help parents with this and make life that little bit easier. The British brand Bibabo are well known for their coverall bibs which attach to highchairs and limit the mess as much as possible. Parents will also know however that it is not only the food that tends to be thrown around during mealtimes, but the cutlery often repeatedly ends up on the floor as your child begins to explore and develop their understanding of its use and cause and effect of dropping (a developmental phase which coincides with the weaning phase). Bibado have attempted to solve this problem of needing to constantly recollect and wash your child’s cutlery and have now designed the unique addition of the ‘no drop’ cutlery to their growing product range.

The set includes a fork and spoon which are designed to be perfect for little hands. Easy grip handles and the perfect size and shape ensure your little one can develop the motor skills to hold their cutlery. The fork is also designed to help your child pick up food rather than just ‘mash it’ (which is great as actually many early forks do not allow this due to thick blunt fork tips). The main design feature however, is that they attach to a Bibado coverall bib so cannot be dropped by your child. This is neatly done by using poppers and fabric attachments. The cutlery sets come in a variety of colours made to pair exactly with your bib design. I was sent the artic set to match my long sleeve bib (see separate review) and this came in grey and white to compliment the bib design.

The cutlery is made to last and not require replacement throughout the weaning and early solid food journey which I like. Indeed on the website it states that should your cutlery not last, they will send out a replacement set. Not only great for the environment, this longevity of use suggests that the design and materials have been well thought out and make the cutlery worth the slightly higher than average price.
The cutlery comes only in sets of a fork and spoon and I would love to see the addition of baby safe knife range (for as your child gets older) either within a set or as an additional item. As with all their products, the items comply with international safety standards, making them perfectly safe for use by your little ones.
A browse through the Bibado website highlights their other items including teethers, weaning charts and dribble bibs. Bundles of items are also available and currently offer significant discounts to buy sets of items this way. A loyalty points system via the website is useable when signing up to reward purchases.
A great Christmas (or anytime) purchase for your own or other little ones or parents/ parents to be, especially alongside a new matching coverall bib to create the perfect set for weaning.
