I was recently invited to attend the Manchester Chepstow Street branch of Bannatyne Spa to receive 3 treatments with a friend as part of a deal from buyagift.com. The deal is for 2 people and  includes a facial, scalp massage and a choice of manicure or pedicure.

Organising a date and receiving the voucher was easy and booking in with the spa was an absolute doddle. A few days before I was due to attend I received a text message reminder from the spa which is perfect for anyone like myself with a very short memory.

Before I knew it I was on the tram from Eccles and my friend on the train from Huddersfield en route to Manchester Piccadilly Train Station which was our meeting point and we took another train to Oxford Road and made our way to the spa.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who took our voucher card and already completed forms and asked us if we would like to purchase a spa bag which contained a towel, slippers and a robe for the very reasonable price of £3pp. We were told we could keep the bags and slippers after our treatments, which was great as it was a nice keepsake. We also hired a padlock for £2 (returnable) to lock our bags away whilst using the facilities.

We were asked to sit in the reception whilst our bags were made up and soon enough we were taken downstairs to the spa area. We were shown around the pool, sauna, changing rooms etc… and then asked to change into our robes and slippers.

Soon enough we were robed up and ready for some pampering, we chose a facial, a scalp massage and myself a pedicure and my friend a manicure.

We were met by Hannah and Amber who were to do our treatments and they asked my friend and I to choose a nail colour each for our mani’s and pedi’s, this was harder than it looked as the colours were all lovely. Eventually I settled on a glittery purple for my toes and my friend a vibrant red for her fingers.

Our next stop was to the treatment room, we were asked prior to entering if we preferred single rooms or to share, we both opted to share.

The room was very relaxing with neutral colours, dim lighting and the music playing soon had us very chilled out and ready to be pampered.

Our first treatments were our nails, and we were asked to lie on the beds under the covers and an eye mask was placed over our eyes so we were completely relaxed.

Amber was in charge of my treatments and she began by removing my old nail polish and got on with filing and painting my toes. It was very enjoyable and my glitzy toes look fabulous!

Next up was the facials, Amber and Hannah asked each of us what we would like to tackle with our skin, mine was my T Zone as it gets quite oily, my friend is intolerant to wheat so she was given the choices of products she could have used that didn’t contain wheat.

The facials were so good and we both really enjoyed them, we were left with a face mask on whilst our therapists massaged our scalps. It was heaven!

Once our treatments were complete we were left to our own devices so we pulled our robes back on and made our way over to the sauna.

The sauna was presented well and had safety notices outside for users to read before entering. It was 90 degrees in there and hot, hot, hot but we enjoyed 5 minutes in there before admitting defeat and stepping out to search for the spa to cool down in.

We found everything easily as the spa is well signposted and were soon chilling in the bubbly spa. We stayed in there quite a while chatting and enjoying the bubbles before taking a dip in the pool. It was a bit nippy after being in the spa but we soon got used to it as our bodies acclimatised to the water temperature.

Our last stop was the sauna again to have a little more heat before showering and changing in the well-equipped changing room.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the spa but was a little disappointed to see parts had become a little run down in places especially around the pool area. Little things like rust marks on pillars and dirty mirrors didn’t make it as appealing as when we first stepped in.

Although we did enjoy the day I would really only return if it was on offer as for the length of treatments I did find it a little on the expensive side.
