Burt’s Bees Milk & Honey Body Lotion Review

Reviewed by HW

As someone with skin prone to dryness, moisturising is a key part of my daily routine. Finding a reliable effective and yet not greasy body moisturiser all within a reasonable price, I think is a tough challenge. I was therefore pleased to be chosen to review one of Burt’s Bees natural moisturisers.

Burt’s Bees is a company who pride themselves on making fully natural products. They began about 30 years ago when a beekeeper’s partner began to make candles from the leftover wax. Their principle ‘Nature has the best answers’ underlies all of their products and means that products are quoted as either 99% or 100% natural. The products range has massively increased from their well-known Beeswax lip balm to a range of face, hand and body products. They even now have a Baby Bee collection. Burt’s Bees formulations prioritise giving your skin the nutrients it needs, without the harshness of chemicals and additives (their website states, no petrochemicals, phthalates, parabens or sodium lauryl sulfate). They now claim to be one of the ‘world’s leading natural personal care brands’ and aim to provide products for everyday use.

Their products are also not tested on animals and the packaging recyclable; important factors for many and making Burt’s Bees an environmentally friendly brand.

I was sent the 170g Burt’s Bees Milk and Honey Body Lotion aimed at normal to dry skin. The style of Burt’s Bees is distinctive, with red text and yellow backgrounds. Maybe considered slightly out of date, the colours and style do give a sense of being a natural product, and for me the packaging is one of the less important factors in a moisturiser so I wouldn’t have been put off by it and at least it’s easy to spot on the shelf.

The moisturiser is thick and creamy and suggestive of a luxurious brand. The aroma is pleasant and again is distinctive in its natural hints of honey. Easily absorbed into the skin and non-greasy, whilst leaves a slight shine.

After using the product for a few days I would certainly consider buying it and trying other products within the Burt’s Bees range.

Easily a product you could buy for yourself and could also work well, perhaps with a few other of their product range, as pamper package for a gift.

Burt’s Bees predicts are available directly from them, Boots, Superdrug, Amazon and other high street and online retailers.
