With Easter fast approaching next month, there are a number of us who may opt for an alternative gift to that of the standard Easter egg for the little ones in our lives. Our children receive so much chocolate at this time of year which, although they get very excited by the prospect and enjoy devouring all the yummy deliciousness, I prefer to give them a little treat with a twist!! Why give them something that only lasts for 2 minutes – chocolate does not hang around in our household for very long (and it isn’t exactly healthy!), when you can buy a gorgeous outfit which will certainly last for much longer, is practical, and yet is still something that they will enjoy and have fun with!
Of course clothes don’t have to be just a gift for Easter, they come in handy for Birthdays and Christmas presents too, in fact, they are essential all year around so who needs the excuse of an ‘occasion’ to buy them!
I’m already a huge fan of the novel and fun outfits that you can purchase from the Blade and Rose clothing range, so when the opportunity arose for me to review one of their hoodies, I gladly accepted the offer.
My little girl is currently clip-clopping around in a gorgeous unicorn themed legging and top set from this company, and I have also previously owned some of their other accessories including socks (all of which I have always found to be of exceptionally high quality), but we have never owned any of their hoodies or sweatshirts. So, with this in mind, I was intrigued to have a little look and let my daughter test one of their hoodies out!
If you take a look at the Blade and Rose website (https://bladeandrose.co.uk) you can scroll through the huge selection of clothes on offer. The brand is synonymous and best known for their trademarked quirky leggings. All of them have amusing and unconventional designs on the bottom area. It’s very cute watching your toddler waddle around with a bumble bee on their behind!

When visiting the hoodie section of the website, there is a lovely choice of 7 designs to select from (including a fawn, a badger, a bee, a fox and a cow, to name a few). I’m sure that any little human would be able to find at least one of these designs to fall in love with. There is even a bunny design which would be very apt for a little girl this Easter! I was also surprised to find that there is a unicorn hoodie and this actually matches her unicorn outfit that we already own.
Blade and Rose have clearly put in a huge amount of creative thinking and effort into producing completely fabulous outfits consisting of socks, leggings, tops and hoodies. Your little one really does ‘look the part’ when they are dressed in the full ensemble!!

All of the hoodies are available in a size of; birth to age 4, or birth to age 6 dependent upon the design chosen. You can filter on the website search to see which hoodies are available in what sizing.
The sizing increments to choose from are as follows;
0-6 months, 6-12 months, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, 3-4 years, 4-5 years and 5-6 years.
I have to say, I have always found all of the Blade and Rose clothing we’ve owned to be true to size. If you’re ever in doubt, then I would always suggest opting for the next size up when purchasing clothing because it won’t be long before your little one will soon grow into it!
We were very lucky to receive the ‘Fox’ hoodie. With its bright and vibrant coloured orange body, an adorable foxes face with ears for the hood (appliqué and embroidered techniques used for the features), and black with white elasticated ribbed bands around the waist and sleeves, it’s the perfect little ‘stand out’ warm hoodie for your child to bound around in. I could clearly spot my little cub at all times when I took her to the park wearing this top.
Foxes seem to be extremely ‘on trend’ for kids clothing at the moment, so your child will not only ‘look the part’ in this hoodie but will be following the latest fashion fad.
The hood has a super soft, black fleecy lining helping to keep your little cub’s ears warm on a chilly or breezy day. A single (matching orange in colour) zip allows for the hoodie to be left undone or zipped up depending on how hot/cold it is and on the wind/breeze levels. I personally always choose jumpers with ribbed waist and sleeve bands for my daughter. They stop things ‘disappearing up the sleeves’ when she’s playing, and when the hoodie is zipped up, they help to keep the warm air trapped inside, insulating her body nicely so keeping her toasty!!
Even with Spring on its way and the weather starting to warm up, this hoodie can either be used with multiple tops layered up on a colder day or, it will act as a handy little ‘throw on’ whilst being worn zip open, on our warmer weather days.
In terms of the materials used for the product, it has a composition of 60% cotton and 40% polyester for the body, whilst the hood lining is made up of 100% polyester. This is perfect for the most sensitive of skins.
As any parent would probably agree, a machine washable top is an essential feature – cubs WILL get dirty whether it’s mud, food or a bodily fluid!!! The care instructions for this hoodie is to wash it on a 30°C cycle, and they recommend to lay it flat for drying purposes. Please note, this hoodie is not tumble drier friendly!
My darling daughter loves running around pretending to be a fox with the hood up wearing her new Blade and Rose ‘Fox’ hoodie. Priced at £25, this is probably a little more money than I would usually spend on a hoodie but because of the quality of the product and especially if I were to buy it as a gift for a special occasion, then I don’t mind splashing out a little more than normal for it!
Rating: I would rate this product 4.5/5
The RRP for this item is £25.00
