BABY Born Storybook Fairy Rainbow Review

I am an absolute huge fan of any toy that encompasses sensory and interactive play. I find it is extremely important for any child’s development and as I have said before on other items I have reviewed Smyths Toys are very good at incorporating these into their toys.

I particularly love the colours the BABY born Storybook Fairy Rainbow has to offer. The colours are delicate pastels ad they really are a great way to keep any child engaged in the whilst playing. A great to for interactive and sensory play / development as I could make reference to a colour and get my niece to point to the colour (she is 4 years and 2 months). The colours are as follows:-

We got straight into interactive and imaginative play by using the backdrop and picture booklet that comes with her and straight away. I started to make up a story of the fairy land in which Rainbow lives and how magical the land was. My niece’s face lit up with excitement. The backdrop and picture booklet really does help with your own imagination to create such fun play. It shows that of an adventure Rainbow has its other fairies and I let my niece use her imagination to be part of the story.

After reading the information about the Fairy Rainbow and her wings, I told her that the magical land gave Rainbow a magical wand that can make her wings flutter. I then gave the want to my niece and show her how to wave Rainbows wand in front of her tummy and WOW, my niece smiled from ear to ear and she said ‘look, she wants to fly’, with that, I picked up Rainbow and glided her around the air as if she were flying. Soon after, my niece wanted to do the same. This really got her cognitive, interactive and imagination play going. I even had to leave the room so my niece could hide Rainbow and I would then have to find her. So much fun and made my heart melt.

The excitement came even more when we told Rainbow out into the garden and into the sunlight; WOW, WOW, WOW….. Rainbow’s face lit up with some amazingly beautiful face art. Honestly, my niece’s face was magical and I have to admit, it brought a tear to my eye.

Rainbow comes with a stand to which it has a backdrop and what makes this backdrop so amazing, is the fact that it has a double sided feature of a day scene on one side and a Night time scene on the other. Great idea as not only did we use these scenes as part of our story, when it came to my niece having to go to bed, she also put Rainbow on the stand with the night time scene, kissed her goodnight. My niece has never been so excited to get into bed. She wanted Rainbow to be with her, so we put her on my niece’s bedside cabinet.

The great thing about BABY Born Storybook Fairies, is the fact that you do not keep to the same story. You can change the story each time you play, or even carry it on from the last time you played with her.

My niece continues to kiss her goodnight when she has to go to bed and as soon as she wakes up, she changes the backdrop to daytime. She says ‘Morning Rainbow, I have my breakfast and I play after’.

My niece is due to go away on holiday soon with her brother and like for him, it will be her first time abroad and I have decided that I’m going to make a passport for Fairy Rainbow as my niece wants to take Rainbow Fairy on holiday with her. I recently did this for my nephew and it went down a storm.

HOW TO OPERATE
Press the On/Off button in the centre of the doll to activate her wings by touching the wand on her belly, You can then turn the wings off with the wand by tapping it again or pressing the button again on her belly. The wings will automatically stop after approximately 10 seconds.

To light up the stand, place the wand in the hole at the front of the stand and watch the lights come on and automatically change colour. These will go off automatically after approximately 12 seconds or just take the wand out. There is an On/Off switch underneath the stand itself.

Rainbow Fairy is such a cute fairy and is a great way to create some magical stories. Not quite a 5 as I found the doll did not stay in the stand that very well and kept falling off at the slightest touch or if I tried to the move the stand with the doll on it.
