As a busy mum of two I regularly make lunches or snacks for myself or my children to take out with us. Finding the perfect lunch box or Tupperware I have found however is harder than expected to ensure it meets all the required needs. I was therefore keen to be sent the b.box (which I discovered stands for ‘baby box’) mini lunchbox to trial and review. Having not come across this brand before I did a little research and loved discovering that the Australian brand had been designed by two mums to attempt to make things a little easier for parents. Impressively, the brand now claims to be one of Australia’s most well-known baby brands, selling in 65 countries worldwide.

The b.box mini lunchbox comes in 6 different colour combinations (each has a two toned design), and I was sent ‘lilac pop’. (N.B. on the brands Australian website there is a far more extensive colour and product range however these colours are those available via the link I was sent). I really liked how the design is made to be aesthetically pleasing for adults and children alike, whilst maintaining the focus on practicality and function. This lunchbox is designed to hold enough food for a young child’s lunch and snacks, but has the longevity value of use as a snack box for older children. Made from ‘materials PP and silicone’ and measuring  21cm (l) x 17cm (w) x 7.3cm (h), the lunchbox has several key features. Built in compartments within separate the box to allow multiple food items to be held separately. I liked the distinctive feature of the removable divider which increases the versatility of the box by creating two smaller or a larger section (the perfect size for a typical cut in half sandwich). There are therefore either 3 of 4 sections within the box. The box has a child friendly clasp to open and close to help build their independence, as well as a soft silicone handle to enable easy carrying. The brand does also have insulated lunchbox bags as well as other accessories to add to your box (including snackboxes, cups and tubs). One of the main features of the mini box is the silicone lid which creates leakproof sections as well as a flexible section to enable an apple to fit within (which it does successfully!). This flexible section isn’t 100% necessary for me as I would be happy to cut the fruit or hold separately to avoid browning, but is still a novel and effective idea. The leakproof area on the other hand is genius! Whilst it clearly states it isn’t suitable for liquids, it is designed to hold yogurt and other ‘wet food’ such as jelly, dips and melon.  I have to admit I was a little sceptical however I tested it with a fairly runny yogurt and gave the whole box several good shakes and a carry around. Once opened I was impressed to see that not only had the yogurt remained in its own section but the surrounding edges were also clean leaving just a ‘yogurt lid.’  A great solution to avoid having to buy snack versions of items, making it cheaper and reducing waste.

Crucially it is also worth mentioning that the lunchbox is dishwasher proof which is a must in my household. I will be keen to see how long it lasts in the new condition as the price is a lot more than a simple lunchbox.

I will certainly hold this brand in mind and would recommend the b.box to other families.
