First of all I must say straightaway that I am far from technical. I am a mother and grandmother who is able to use a laptop and tablet device.

I have been allowed to try out the ASUS Transformer Pad Model TF701T (K00C) which works on the Android system and I am very impressed with it.

The Asus Transformer Pad is very attractive to look at with its grey metal look top with the ASUS logo in the centre. The keyboard is black. The tablet is very lightweight even with the keyboard attached.

Looking at the tablet screen there is an ambient light sensor which adjusts the brightness according to conditions, a front camera which showed me looking at the tablet screen which is of course a touch screen which means you just touch the screen with your finger to operate the tablet.

Looking at the back of the tablet there is a microphone which enables you to record, an audio speaker so you can listen to audios without earphones, a rear camera to take photographs or videos. The power button, volume button and micro SD card slot. Micro HDMI port so you can connect to other devices, a Speaker/Headset port so videos/music can be listened to with earphones. Hinge holes and the Dock port to connect the keyboard to the tablet. So many features have been included in this device!

As I said previously there are two parts to this Transformer Pad, a 10” Tablet which is a really good size to work on and has touch screen facilities, plus a keyboard which can be quickly and easily attached or detached. Once the keyboard is attached it looks and works like a small laptop.

Once you have the tablet charged it is switched on by the touch of a finger to the power button, immediately you have a screen showing the current time, date and temperature. The tablet screen will switch off to save the battery if not used for a short while.

Once the screen is unlocked with a quick slide of the finger several options appear at the bottom of the screen.

There is a browser which of course can be used when the tablet is connected to the internet, a calendar where you can make notes for appointments, email, so easy, just choose your email system and log in, tasks, where you can remind yourself of things needing to be done. SuperNote, so handy for shopping lists. The Gallery, is where all your photographs and videos are stored, the camera, and of course the Play Store where you can download games and apps from the internet.

In the middle of this row of ‘buttons’ there is a small circle with tiny squares inside. Press this circle and several links to various programmes including Facebook appear, Music, emails, games which have been downloaded, calculator, a play movies and TV link, polaris office, maps, weather and even a link to Kindle so books can be downloaded to read on the tablet, the settings button plus so many more.

Click on the settings button and it is easy to turn the WiFi on, put in your WiFi password and you are connected to the internet. You can browse, chat and download to your heart’s content.

This is a fabulous tablet with so many facilities and it is so easy to use.

Connect the keypad and you have a small laptop! I touch type, but found the keypad very easy to get used to and I could still touch type on it. There is a mouse to move the cursor which also has right and left click facilities.

Everything you can do at the touch of a finger on the tablet, you can do with the mouse when the keyboard is attached.

I can thoroughly recommend this ASUS Transformer Pad, it is so easy to use and it has so many facilities. With the dual use of a tablet and laptop I think old and young alike will love it! I do!!
