I was excited to see that I had been allocated the IMO Q5 smart phone to review. The phone took a few weeks to arrive. (editor’s note – it is a review sample) The phone Comes in a modern looking sturdy box and was provided with a £10 – 10GB No contract sim card which has 5000 minutes and texts.
The box contained:
1x USB cable
1x IMO Q5 Phone,
1x 2500 mAh battery,
1x Quick start guide

Disappointingly, there was no plug to charge the phone so I needed to use an existing one from another phone.
The manual for the phone is very basic, highlights the components of the phone and the process of replacing the battery, SIM and memory card, and covers the specifications. If you have ever used an android phone before it should be very easy to navigate the phones operating system.
The phone certainly falls within the affordability category but boasts a 5MP camera on the front and a 13MP camera on the back. The phone has a modestly sized 5.5” screen and runs android version 12 on a SC9832E chipset running a quad-core 1.4Ghz CPU. The battery for the phone is 2500 mAh but it is removable which allows for its replacement. The Phones storage capacity is 16GB ROM and the RAM is 2GB. The phone does allow for an additional MicroSD card to be added for up to an extra 128GB capacity. This phone runs on 2G, 3G, 4G networks but comes with 4G connectivity on the Tesco Mobile network. The phone also has WIFI, Bluetooth and has a 3.5mm audio jack that allows you to listen to streamed music or music from the phones build in FM radio.

The phone has a plastic frame and case but the screen is made of glass. The screen already comes with a protector on it. The phone only comes in one colour unfortunately, which is midnight blue but it does loos nice and feels good in your hand. When using the phone I was able to install and use any applications like facebook and youtube with ease
What I like about this phone is its affordable at a price tag of £69.99 as a PAYG phone but it can be bought on contract with £0 upfront cost. The phone offers all the conveniences of a smart phone. I can take photos of reasonable quality, browse the web and have access to install all the applications from the google play store. The phone does come with a facial recognition feature to unlock it quickly without having to enter the password.
I do like the fact the phone allows for the memory to be upgraded to enough space to match what is available on some of the current market leading models. I also like the fact that I can buy a spare battery and the battery can be replaced if the supplied battery stops holding charge a few years down the line.
This phone is ideal for a first smart phone to give your child, take travelling or use when doing activities outdoors and you do not want to damage or lose your main phone.
