When it comes to young children and humour, nothing is more likely to raise a laugh than jokes about poo, wee and pants! With this in mind, Aliens Love Underpants could not fail to appeal to the younger children!
I took my 4-year-old son to The Capitol theatre in Horsham yesterday to see one of his favourite stories come to life on stage. Right from the start, the children were captivated. With the cast handing out pants at the start and asking the children to look after them, it simply could not fail to amuse. I would be fibbing if I said I wasn’t chuckling also!
The show is based on the book by Claire Freedman, first published in 2007. It tells the story of the disappearing underpants and the hero who saved the day from the worldwide pant shortage. The book is simple yet hilariously funny.
The story was brilliantly brought to life and the cast were truly amazing! Will Taylor was absolutely fantastic as Timmy and my sons’ favourite was Kate McKeown who played a variety of roles including Timmy’s best friend Vee. All the cast were truly believable and gave 100% to the show.
There was audience participation from the very start and this was encouraged throughout the show. The children were shouting at the stage desperately trying to get themselves heard.
The show ran for an hour with no interval which was perfect to keep the attention of the younger audience. The atmosphere was truly buzzing and I do not think there was one child or grown up in the audience who didn’t thoroughly enjoy the show.
The Capitol is a lovely venue – not too big meaning the perk of this is that there are no bad seats. The staff are always very friendly and happy to help wherever they can and there are always refreshments and snacks on sale. Parking is easy with various car parks nearby offering parking at a very reasonable rate.
I would thoroughly recommend this show to anybody with children under the age of 8 years. It had incredible songs, an amazing cast and a simple yet captivating story. It was a 5 star truly Pantabulous performance which we both thoroughly enjoyed!!
