Are you entertaining this Christmas or over the festive season? Want to get good value for money and good quality?
Well these are two questions to ask yourself and if you answer yes to both of them you should take a look at what ALDI has to offer.
ALDI do a huge range of drinks they include wines, spirits, beers and cider. They have quite a range to choose from and you can see some of what they have on offer here.
They have also brought some drinks in especially for the festive season and most of these are available from the 16th November onwards but you can take a look here and see what they will have to offer here.
They have lots of great wines to choose from, so you should be well covered with Fizz for toasts and wine for dinner as well as wine for with your cheese board and they certainly have a great range of night caps with Spiced Rum to mention only one.
We have sampled a few drinks from the range and we have been extremely happy with the quality and the price. So no matter what kind of party your hosting you will be sure to find something. We tried a few drinks out and here is what we thought.
La Goudale Abbaye Beer £2.49 each
This beer has been brought into stock for the Christmas Festivities and is available in store from the 16th November and well what can I say other than I will be buying some of these for sure. It was like being sat in the sun in a European city again eating tapas and relaxing (something I don’t do very much these days unfortunately). It is quite a strong beer so not one you would drink bottles and bottles of but this would be great with a cheese and meat platter after dinner or at supper time served really cold in a glass. I know we would happily share one or two of these with some food and a board game in the evenings.
Exquisite Collection New Zealand Pinot Noir £6.99
New Zealand Red wind and I am told on good authority from my dad that it is a nice red, he said it drank well and had a lovely smooth taste. I personally don’t drink red but I do drink mulled wine and I think the fact this is a nice red and the reasonable price this would go perfect with a bottle of port and spices over the festive season and we will be giving it a try for sure. You can find various recipes for mulled wine but ALDI do have one under the Christmas Drinks section on the website and it’s really simple to do.
Exquisite Collection Clare Valley Riesling £6.99
This is a dry white wine with green apple, lime and grapefruit notes. We tried this with a Chinese on Friday evening and it complemented it very well so would go down well with oriental style food be it sit down or buffet style over the festive period. There are lots of nibbles you can have like spring rolls, dim sum etc. that this would complement perfectly from the ALDI party range on offer. Also great price at £6.99 you can stick a few bottles away and not be scared for the odd glass to go to waste should it get knocked over in the festivities.
Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin £13.99 per litre
Who doesn’t love a G&T at Christmas time? Well I know I certainly do and this Gin is lovely, you wouldn’t know it was from ALDI and you certainly wouldn’t think it was only £13.99 per litre. Gin is great mixed with tonic and a slice of lemon or I serve mine with lemonade and a slice of lemon I like the sweet taste the lemonade provides. Both tonic and lemonade are available from ALDI. You can also use Gin in many different cocktails that could spice up any party you are hosting. Great for Saturday night in front of the TV though as well.
Brasserie Premium French Lager – £3.29 for 10 pack of 250ml bottles
These little bottles are great if you have friends round for a few drinks, cards, games of pool. They suit an informal setting, the bottle are not too big but just the right size if poured in a glass and served super cold. We love these for parties and so do our guests. Great to have in the cupboard for those unexpected visitors and just pop in the freezer for 10 mins and you have a great cold beer to offer.
Taurus Pear Cider 4 x 440ml £1.99
These are a lovely flavoured Cider and not too expensive, I often drink these at weekends not just when entertaining, great affordable price and I don’t feel I have compromised on flavour by purchasing these. Also a great one to have just in the cupboard for the unexpected visitors over Christmas who would like a drink but nothing as string as a wine or spirit.
Above are just some of the drinks we have tried you will find a whole host of other drinks on the website as well as cocktail ideas and recipes, there is a food and wine matching section (if your anything like me this will come in very handy as I usually look at the label and go for the good looking one) this can make you look really good if you are hosting a dinner party.
If you take a look at the website you can see what food they have to offer, as well as drinks and you will also find sections on decorating, party tips, hosting a party do and don’ts, there are so many hints, tips and ideas you can look through to make sure you host the ultimate Christmas Party.
