A Zoo In My Luggage by Gerald Durrell Review

Reviewed by Michelle Wells
My 8 year old daughter read this book and said that it was a fun book to read and she very much enjoyed reading it. The story of the book is about the author Gerald Durrell and his wife going on a 6-month trip to Cameroon to collect lots of different species of animals to start his own zoo in the Channel Islands of Jersey. The author’s tongue-in-cheek description of his adventures and misadventures with animals is delightful and had my daughter laughing out loud in parts! The book is a paperback and is 199 pages long. My daughter enjoyed the book so much that she read it in a week! This book is very informative for children as his descriptions of Africa are wonderful and the different species of animals includes rare ones that we had never heard of before.
This is the perfect story for children of any age who love animals and would like to learn more about different animal species in a fun way. My daughter and I would recommend this book.
