My granddaughter is 32 months old and loves learning new skills and especially loves being outside. Her face lit up when she first saw this little beauty of a balance bike. She is a very girly little girl and loved the pinkness of it.
The Chicco Pink Arrow balance bike is said to be suitable for children from 2-5 and supports weight up to 25kg. It measures 71cm in length, stands at 54cm high and at the widest point of the handlebars it is 45cm. It weighs 2.7kg. Chicco is an Italian company specialising in producing children’s toys. The Chicco Pink Arrow balance bike is sturdy and durable, it is a very bright pink colour so perfect for your special little girl.. Chicco also sell this bike in a more gender neutral red and this one is called the Red Bullet.

The bike comes boxed and does require assembly. Grandad came to the rescue at this point and took over the technical task as I’m hopeless at this sort of thing. There was an instruction leaflet and a spanner included in the box and it didn’t take too long, probably about 15/20 minutes for him to put it all together. The bike has a metal frame. The name, Pink Arrow, gives away the colour of this bike, which is a lovely bright cerise and it has the Chicco logo and pink arrow emblazoned on it. The wheels are anti puncture and the handlebars are very grippy for little hands. The saddle is non-slip and the height of the seat and handlebars can be adjusted to suit and as your child grows.
Basically a balance bike is a simple first bike to introduce little ones to cycling but without the need for chains and brakes to complicate things for them. After a little bit of encouragement our little one was happy to sit on the seat and seemed to instinctively know how to use her feet to propel herself forward. It didn’t take to long for her to get the hang of her new bike. She was soon able to balance enough to wheel around our patio and we were deIighted to see how much she enjoyed this new experience and freedom.
Obviously it’s great to see little ones playing, however, a balance bike is also a good way for them to learn new skills and to smooth the transition to a proper bike. The Chicco website says “ by practicing with Chicco Balance Bikes, every child will be able to move to a real bicycle with pedals without any difficulties or fear.”
One thing that I like about the balance bike is that it is just like the real thing, so younger children can join in play with their older siblings and be a proper ‘big girl or boy’ when out and about.
With Christmas just around the corner, the Chicco balance bike would make a great gift for any toddler and provide hours of fun and learning.
