Vex Gift Card Review

Sometimes it’s just hard to know what gift to buy someone isn’t it? I have a few friends like this, and year after year I try to find something they will enjoy for their birthday, and I am not sure I ever quite get it right for them! That is why the Vex gift card appealed to me. It looked so easy to use, you can choose any amount from £10-£250 to be on the card (plus a small delivery fee), and it can be sent straight to the person you are giving it to with a personal message attached. The person receiving the card can then transfer the money on it to a certain store or activity to spend it on, either by receiving an online voucher or a gift card through the post. There is a large variety of ways to spend the voucher as well, with over 150 options to choose from, ranging from supermarkets to days out, coffee shops, restaurants or experiences, so there is something that would suit everyone.

The Vex gift card arrived promptly in a white envelope and by recorded signed delivery (although it was put straight through my letter box). The card inside looked very professional and smart, being attached within a trifold black card. There was a friendly message from the Vex team inside and clear instructions on how to use the card along with some examples of where it could be used. So far, so good – I was impressed. However, when I went online and entered the voucher code and pin to redeem it, I could not get it to work, and I began to wonder if this was as easy as it first seemed. I rang the customer service team and they were very friendly, but also could not work out why it would not work, so referred it to their IT team. A week later I had not heard anything so I rang again, and was told it was still with their IT team and they would let me know when it had been resolved. After another 5 days I rang them for a third time, and this time the lady I spoke to managed to sort the card for me and transferred it to a supermarket of my choosing. I asked for a physical gift card and it arrived in the post the next day.

I was impressed with how quickly this came once it worked, and it was very easy to use in the shop. However, the customer service needs to resolve problems in a more timely manner. Saying that, I would use this company again, for the wide range of options where the card can be used, the design of the card looking so professional, and the timely manner in which it arrived. My days of worrying about what presents to buy some of my friends has come to an end! It will save me a lot of time trying to find the right gift, and my friends will enjoy choosing something they truly enjoy to treat themselves with!
