Steve Hughes at The Lowry Review
Steve Hughes
While It's Still Legal Tour
The Lowry, Manchester
Reviewed by Colin Rogers
We got to The Lowry in Salford, Manchester 45 minutes prior to the show starting, so we had time for a few cheeky beers at the bar in the theatre and find our way to the toilets which are all easily found. Then we went to went to the stalls, one I have never been to before, it was quite different but comfy.
Firet a warm up act from New Zealand came on, he was quite funny and got us all going. He was on for about half an hour. Then the interval, we were told it would be for around 10 minutes so we went to the bar and the toilets. We were given plastic bottles of beer so that we could take them back into the stalls with us.
The interval turned out to be more like half an hour than the 10 minutes originally estimated… then it was time for Steve Hughes, he is someone I have never really heard of before, but I did watch him on YouTube a few nights prior to see what he was all about and I enjoyed it so I was looking forward to seeing him live.
He is from Australia, and is also a heavy metal drummer. He came onto the stage donning jeans and a leather jacket and a long goatie beard. He was hilarious and had the crowd crying with laughter. His show lasted for well over an hour and came out with all sorts of jokes and funny stories ranging from Australia to Manchester.
I’ve joined is newsletter list online so I know if or when he will be local as I would definitely go and see him again.
A great night full of laughter, so much so my sides were aching on the way out. I would recommend him to anyone who enjoys a good comedian.
