I am a mother of 3 young children, having never made the move from traditional baby shampoos, I was quite eager to be trialling Berry Smoothie Organic Baby Shampoo & Conditioner.
I’ve always had to be careful with toiletries as my 3 year old son had eczema as a baby, so I had a quick read on the back and was happy to see it was suitable for children who may be prone to eczema or psorisis, so I was reassured it would be fine for them.
The product comes in handy 200ml tubes with flip top lids. The amount of certified organic ingredients is marked clearly on the front of each, with the shampoo having 82% and the conditioner 89%, but overall 100% certified products. I scanned the ingredients and observed they included a lot of natural extracts. Also that 10% of net profit from sales is donated to charity. The products are also approved by Vegan, Vegetarian Society and Ethical Company Good Shopping Guide.
On to the product itself, Berry Smoothie, so of course the first thing I did upon opening them was give them a good sniff! I was pleasantly surprised to smell a lovely subtle berry fragrance, almost buttery in smell as well.
So on to my first guinea pigs, my 13 month old twin girls. Both had hair washed with no problems and no tears, and then first use of conditioner. Once their hair was brushed and had dried naturally, their gorgeous auburn locks appeared to be shinier than usual and I enjoyed smelling their hair as I put them down to bed that night. I don’t wash their hair too often, so it was a few nights before we tried it again, and results were good again. Any worries I had about conditioner causing their hair to look lank were soon banished. On the third trial, I decided to go all out and give my girls a cool blow dry. Although they weren’t too keen, and kept trying to take off, but I still managed to get lovely results, and super duper shiny hair.
And then my other guinea pig, my 3 year old boy who can make a bit of a fuss having his hair washed. Again it was pleasant surprised all round, and he was quite happy having his hair washed and smelling berry delicious as a result!
By this time I had berry envy, and decided since it was vegetarian friendly, I would try them to wash my own hair as well.
Overall I was quite impressed, and I will be checking out other products under the Green People brand.
