Rocket-Bye by Carole P. Roman Review

Reviewed by David Savage
Carole P. Roman is the award-winning author of the Captain No Beard and If You Were Me and Lived In… series of children’s books and I am always delighted to read her books. So when I received Rocket-Bye I couldn’t wait to get started.
Rocket-Bye is the story of two young boys (the author’s grandchildren) who start on an out of this world journey into outer space on a rocket ship once bedtime comes around.
Rocket-Bye is not a traditional story picture book but a book written in rhyming verse and very easy to read. 2 young boys travel into space and throughout the galaxy looking at the moons, stars and planets all while asleep… all a wonderful dream. The story is told in short verses to make it a great book for bedtime reading.
Beautifully illustrated by Bulgarian children’s illustrator Mateya Arkova in bright pastel colours, it’s cartoon style with blurred edges fit in with the dream theme and not only captures the imagination and looks great.
Perfect for bedtime reading, it also has some educational value introducing children to different planets, star constellations and not being afraid.
A perfect and gentle rhyming story that is out of this world and one that children will love reading at bedtimes while admiring the beautiful illustrations.
Another quality story from a great children’s author.
