Having never been to Sheffield Arena before, myself and my friend took the commute via car from Manchester to Sheffield. The arena was easy to find, located extremely close to the M1 motorway and Sheffield Meadow Hall shopping centre. I was grateful to learn we could also park onsite at a reasonable price of just £6.
Upon collecting our tickets from the Box Office, we were soon to realise we had the ‘best’ seats in the house, seated only 5 rows back from the stage which resulted in clearly seeing and hearing the cast.
I have been a huge fan of Mrs Brown’s Boys for a number of years and was well and truly thrilled to find out I was soon to be seeing the show LIVE! Mrs Brown’s Boys is a television sitcom created by and starring Irish writer and performer Brendan O’Carroll, with himself playing character Mammy (Agnes Brown) and several close friends and real life family members such as Grandad Brown played by Dermot O’Neill, Mrs Brown’s daughter Cathy played by Jennifer Gibney, sons Rory played by Rory Cowan, Dermot played by Paddy Houlihan, Mark played by Pat ‘Pepsi’ Shields and religious son Trevor played by Martin Delany. Mrs Brown’s best friend and neighbour, Winnie is played by Eilish O’Carroll. Family friend Buster Brady played by Danny O’Carroll. Mrs Brown’s daughters in law played by Fiona O’Carroll (Maria) and Amanda Woods (Betty) also son in law Dino Doyle played Gary Hollywood making up the rest of the cast.
Mrs Brown’s Boys originally started as a radio series in 1992, becoming extremely popular, leading to the start of the television series in 2011 and resulting in winning national television awards.
The show, How Now Mrs Brown Cow!, centres on the run-up to Christmas as the expected return home of beloved son Trevor, the Catholic missionary working overseas soon turns catastrophic whilst the family try to tell their ‘mammy’ that actually Trevor won’t be home for Christmas and the children fear one of them may have been adopted.
With everything turning from bad to worse in the Brown’s household, it was amusing to see an army of fans giggling at all opportunity and the cast who can’t help but collapse in laughter at the unscripted and cheeky remarks of Mrs Brown we could not of asked for a better evening of comedy.
Completing the show with a Christmas finale, mammy’s surprise and falling snow.
Thank you for a brilliant evening.
Tickets cost from £24.75 to £43.45 (booking fees may apply).
