I was never fortunate enough to actually see Fleetwood Mac live in concert, although I have always been a fan and admirer of their music. I was however, fortunate enough to see the superb tribute act ‘Rumours of Fleetwood Mac’ who are in the middle of a UK Tour and are probably appearing in a venue near you. This tour follows hot on the heels of a highly successful Global Tour where they performed their highly polished show to hundreds of thousands of Fleetwood Mac fans. They are the leading internationally recognised Fleetwood Mac Tribute band who have been performing for 14 years and with good reason, they are superb at what they do! I urge you to try to get a ticket if you want to get in touch with your youth or simply want to find out what the music of Fleetwood Mac was all about.
The concert opened with Mick Fleetwood on a big video screen extolling the virtues of the musicians who make up ‘RFM’ and giving them his complete backing. From then on it was superb music all the way. This show was replicating the power of Fleetwood Mac at the height of their musical career. RFM performed a wonderful variety of classic songs including Albatross, Go Your Own Way, Little Lies, Don’t Stop (thinking about tomorrow), Say You Love Me, Go Your Own Way, The Chain (just think of the BBC Formula1 music!) and many, many others. I must confess to being a little bit disappointed that a favourite of mine ‘Never Going Back Again’ wasn’t included in the evening’s repertoire but my evening wasn’t spoiled because of the omission!
The Mail On Sunday said the band ‘do Fleetwood Mac better than Fleetwood Mac’ and the Sunday Times hailed their ‘stunning and incredibly accurate snapshot.’ I truly can’t sum up RFM any better than that.
St George’s Hall is easy to get to by a variety of means. There is an NCP car park close to the Hall which can be used at a discounted price with a ticket obtained from the ticket office.
As ever, my thanks go to the friendly and helpful staff at St. George’s Hall who always strive to make their patrons feel welcome.
I’m very pleased to be able to give Rumours of Fleetwood Mac a score of 5 out of 5.
