I remember how popular the ‘Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles’ were the first time around, so I was more than happy when the show returned and the toys appeared once more in the shops. However, for some reason, both the show and the toys were much ‘meaner’ than they were before. My 4 year old son was always going to like the ‘Turtles’ but I wasn’t happy letting him watch the new show or play with the new toys due to their adult appeal.
Given my dilemma, I was more than happy when ‘Half-Shell Heroes’ was launched – a pre-school friendly version of the Turtles.
The ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Dune Duster with Off-Road Mikey’ is a great toy that is perfect for children aged as young as three and is specially sized for pre-school hands. The Half-Shell Heroes collection includes brighter colours and less-menacing expressions, which make them ideal for children of a younger age. This toy is a part of this collection and is compatible with all ‘Half-Shell Hero’ figures; included with this toy is an exclusive Off Road Mikey figure.
The dune duster itself splits into two parts, a road vehicle and a winged vehicle that clips into the back, again both able to sit the Mikey figure. The wings double up as the roof of the road vehicle and they are released by pressing the buttons in the centre of the wings.

The quality of the toy is good; it is sturdy, well built and my son has very much enjoyed playing with it. Making this toy even more of a joy was the fact that it was very simple to build.
I will now no doubt be purchasing other models from this collection, as my son has already picked out the next one he wants from the promotional leaflet included with the product.
This product retails at around £14.99 and is well worth the money.
